I didn't mean amnesia or resetting between successive days/comics. Don't know where you got that from, it's obvious this series has lot of continuity. I meant that cause they're characters in a gag-a-day comic, then every day/comic must end with a gag.
My bad for misunderstanding that
It's probably pretty hard to seriously court someone when your every interaction with them has to end in a punchline.
I don’t think it has to end in a joke, cuz Hinami got the mangaka to delete a panel. With how much power she has, I feel like she’s intentionally having everything end in a bit, cuz having the literal creator of their world under her control should allow her to turn the manga into smthn serious or have one chapter not end in a bit
Not that she doesn't try mind you, in todays comic for example, taking her to The Pool famous for people fucking in it is an honestly not very subtle way of saying she wants to fuck Tsukino.
I feel like that’s not the conclusion that the average person would make, let alone Tsukino who has rejected Hinami’s blatant advances (the “let’s get married thing” she just up and ignored, wasn’t okay with kissing, says “nothin is about to begin” on may 1st the day when love begins, Tsukino said she didn’t care about the romance part of romance day)
But mayb that’s just me
It is clearly meant as flirting, just also done in a way that generates a laugh from the audience. She's trying her best within the limits of her reality.
The fact that it’s played off like a joke is what makes it NOT clearly flirting, + Tsukino isn’t gonna take any advance srsly cuz it’s played off as a joke
Hinami can leave the comic's universe, and has godlike powers within it, but she doesn't seem to be able to change the nature of the comic itself as being a comedy. It seems more like, when she's in the comic, shes beholden to its nature as comedic.
If she can force the mangaka to delete a panel, she can force him to do other things, but she lets him do what he wants
She can't just choose to stop setting up jokes and seriously confess to Tsukino, because making jokes is just an intrinsic aspect of being the Boke character in a gag-a-day manga.
I’m pretty sure she was 100% serious when she was asking Tsukino to get married, I mean, in the journal art she looked sad + says she can do p much anything in the fictional world so she wouldn’t be affected by those kinda rules
I mean, here she says she helps him come up with ideas, even tho that was a bit ago, it’s still gotta be partially true right? if she really wanted to, she could def change things, she just doesn’t want to? Cuz her main goal seems to be keeping the happy days with Tsukino so maybe she’s letting everything be a joke cuz it’s more fun that way?
So she's just biding her time until she the day she can take Tsukino to "the real world" too, where she'll be able to express her feelings sincerely.
I like the theory of her stalling but I think it’s for a different reason; in the journal pages, she says that she wants Tsukino to always be herself, but as a manga character that isn’t self aware/has god powers, wouldn’t “herself” be decided by the mangaka?
She prolly doesn’t want Tsukino’s personality to be altered or her choice to be at all affected by outside forces, and the only way to guarantee that Tsukino’s decision is purely her own is by bringing her into the real world? Shes already shown she’s def trying to get Tsukino to cross over
So she makes every chapter a gag to continue the fun times while she works things out in the background.
Or maybe none of that is true and she just likes gags. Who knows. But it would definitely explain some of her behaviour if it is the case.
She prolly likes gags, imagine hating gags and being the MC of a gag manga? That’d be like, the first thing that kinda person would change I think
