After the fine ending of the Elisha/Honoka story, I hoped that we would have endings for some of the other pairs or at the least an extended final episode, perhaps with the 3rd years graduating. Instead the story simply fizzled out. I agree with those who are disappointed.

Damn I've been following this series for almost the full 15 years. I too wish it wrapped out some of the other couples relationships. It does leave you with an unsatisfying feeling for it to just end without much pop and circumstance.

Thank you for the chapter and the series.

i get the ending kind of fits with the tone of the series (for the most part) but it's quite the slap in the face for people who have been reading this for... fifteen years?? and gotten invested in these characters and their relationships. all but a few of them were just kind of... left there. like i could never reread this knowing many of the couples will never get anthing more substantial than playful flirting.

It was a long ride and there was a lot of great chapters and couple moments, but yeah I wish there was a little more with each pairing, especially seeing them in a place that at least felt satisfying to end on.

It’s really not. I remember the early days and nobody really thought we were going to end up with the level of explicit yuri we did with Mio/Shizuka and some of the others at all. Maybe I’d be more upset if they weren’t my favourite couple in the manga anyway and if I’d been following it closely for the last number of years, but the last chapter seems pretty fitting. Not that I wouldn’t love to see more of all the virgins and a more concrete ending for some of the couples.

End of an amazing era, but would've loved it even more if we ended on a satisfying note. I am going to miss Ai and Chie, they were my OTP

Thanks so much, Chads, for all your hard work. Clearly this was a labor of love.

I have a feeling the series might go on with the Main couple who seem like they are going to make it past high school Ai and Chie then show others who might have the best chance after these two. I also would like to see if AI runs track in university given she got 5th in the 100 meter doing all the 400 meter and under event or not, given her talent being 5th at nationals. If not, Mari and Yui as a couple with Mari going on to track in her disaplins of 400 meter and 800 meter becuse they did sign the marrage registration forms. Mahiro and Mahiru would be the only other couple to focus on because they seem like they are going to make it as a couple also having signed the marriage registration forms though more openly then Mari and Yui.

As for old series Kase-san was continued via Yamada to Kese-San and started at least on Dynasty Scans in 2012, could be a year older. This focuses on one couple who are trying now to survive university in series 2. So even though this is a different series, almost the same story is still going in the second book with the 2 main characters and 2 others from the original series.

Feeling PROFOUNDLY ripped off right now - I actually bought the manga, and I mean all of it, so I'm entitled, because I actually did pay for this.
I think what really makes me angry is that the resolution to the Elisha and Honoka plotline led me to believe that we would get proper endings for all of them.

I don’t mind this being the last chapter. I like Kishi’s idea of ending it on a regular chapter. I just wish we could have gotten a last trip around the various couples to check up on their status first. I would have loved one last check in on Haruka and Kanae.

I am a touch disappointed that we didn't get closure and a HEA for everybody. Was really hoping to see a timeskip Mari and Yuu 7 years into the future. And also seeing Ai and Chie as the happy married couple.

Ah well. Was a fun ride.

EcchiComedySlice of Life ends as a EcchiComedySlice of Life
Seems fitting to me

Thanks for all the wackiness Kishi, and to all the various scanalators who brought this thing to us!

I guess I have officially retired from maintaining the Kiss Chart...never thought I'd earn that mug. Will keep it on my desk.

i stopped reading this years ago, but i'm glad mio/shizuka ended up together and had such a sweet romance while i was gone. they were my favs and iirc i stopped reading because of some drama with them midway. i'm satisfied!

finally got around to reading the whole thing, start to finish. mio/shizuka otp, haruka/kanae deserved better

Many thanks to Chads. Too bad about the shitty non ending. Guess the money ran out.

This was a great write-up that provides a beautiful perspective on the manga. Thank for for your writing. Having read it, I can be a little satisfied with the ending. Here's to fifteen years of "everyday nudity".

Honestly, if we're being realistic, almost none of these girls end up together, that's just not how high school relationships work out. Most series get around this by focusing on a single couple/pairing, because while MOST people don't pair up for life out of high school, SOME people do, and the story can just be about one of those without stretching plausibility.

By making a series set in a girls school with so many pairings, relationships, and prospective relationships, you're left with the dilemma of either making an ending where many of the couples end up with long term prospects but it feels contrived and false, an ambiguous ending where you do a graduation arc and maybe a couple of them get together but mostly it's just leaving everything up in the air, or a time-skip/class reunion ending where you find out most of them broke up or never got together, and a lot of them married guys, and then it feels pretty shitty.

So while this feels on the face like a wildly unsatisfying last chapter, I could also sympathize with Kishi-sensei's decision to just go "eh fuck it the end." And at first that's what this looks like, but then I think about Honoka and Elisha's story, and I think there's something a little deeper going on here.

I think the reason he gave Honoka and Eli an ending specifically was because out of everybody, they had THE MOST to overcome if they were going to end up together, with Eli being an exchange student and leaving the country after a semester. Many of these couples have a whole year or two together before they graduate, many of them might attend the same college, and even if they don't, they're still all in the same country, they could end up at the same company, or find themselves in the same town, etc etc. But Eli and Honoka are going to have a literal ocean between them, and until the very end there it's kinda ambiguous if they're actually that committed or if they're just playing around. The fakeout in the ending where you start off thinking they fell out of touch works because honestly it would feel very real if they did. So the message here is:

"Look, we all know not all these girls are gonna get together, and I'm not going to dash your dreams by telling you which of your faves didn't work out. So instead of giving everybody an ending and deciding it for you, look, look here: The couple with the most obstacles is happily living together in quasi-marital bliss happily writing manga together, probably about Thomas Jefferson taking it in the butt from Tokugawa Ieharu. If they made it work, who's to say your favorite couple didn't?"

And y'know, I think that's probably about the best compromise between realism and narrative that you could probably do for a series like this.

I can't believe its over. I started reading the last 100 chapters when I saw the END came out. One of the single most constant forces of yuri all these years has finally concluded. I hope one day I can buy some copies. Even if the ending wasn't perfect, I'm so very happy my favorite couple got a time skip. I miss all the couples already uuuu

Let's all please give a moment of silence for poor Nao, the eternally frustrated. She had exactly one interaction with her canon partner before her entire character was obliterated by changing content standards.
