Tajima’s honestly just a huge jerk, isn’t she? She cheats on her girlfriend, the one who’s paying for all the household bills, while she freeloads and even compares her to the girl she’s sleeping with. Still, I got the sense that her relationship with her girlfriend was already kind of dysfunctional and distant… hard to describe exactly, but something felt off.

well, they'd be an adult nowadays as they were a college student. In the west you wouldn't consider a 21 year old a child. It says in the TL note that this was when the age of majority was 22.
