Actually not the same artist. Artoria was designed by Takashi Takeuchi and Nero by Wada Arco (I think she also designed Kronii?). Takeuchi IS famous for sameface but most Artoria lookalikes are deliberate.

^Yeah Wada is Kronii's artist, she also watches Kronii's streams and is supportive of her. Nero drawn by Wada and Artoria drawn by Takeuchi side by side are easy to tell apart because their art styles are noticeably different, yeah though there is a deliberate element of making them look alike. Personally I really like Takeuchi and Wada both, as Artoria (plus Mordred) and Nero are some of my favorites.

@Moedred: Yeah I don't think I've seen Nero Bride for either Extella on Steam, unfortunate that it sounds like it's Playstation exclusive x_x

^Really? I watched/played so many different Fate related stuff and I didn't even know, but I don't really paid attention until I started frequent this site and started noticing how some artists have really distinct styles.
So I really can't think about other reason they look almost the same other than "Let's make other character looks like our most popular one, just with tweaks".

Bear in mind that a big part of Fate/Extra was making the player think they are experiencing something similar to Fate/Stay Night, only for it to turn out to be something different. It's not just the Saber the player commands. Shinji is different, Rin is not the same Rin, they don't even have the same servants, and the guy called Kuzuki is just using a fake name. Nasu seemed to be in a bit of a troll mood when he made that game.

@Moedred: I think part of it is Takeuchi having some same-face (though I think some of his characters look different) so it became an in universe joke and official trait. With Gilles mistaking Artoria and Jeanne, "SaberFace" is a trait in FGO and Mysterious Heroine X does bonus NP damage against the trait. There's a variety of stuff. The one I'm unsure about so take it with a grain of salt is a friend once told me SaberFace supposedly connects to Eve (Biblical), and so everyone with the trait gives a glimpse of what Eve looks like in the Type Moon universe, but I don't think we've seen her and maybe that's just a fan theory. I've never been able to find a source on it but it doesn't sound impossible.

Also yeah Wada is the character artist for Nero, and she's the artist for Extra and Extella. Her art style is very different from Takeuchi's style, and in terms of Sabers she's the original artist for Altera who isn't a SaberFace. Though in FGO Altera is drawn by Huke (who is also the artist for Hololive's Kiara), which personally I prefer Wada drawing Altera.

While I understand the need for spaces where you have some kind of control over the interactions you are going to get, one should be careful to avoid being exclusinary themselves. Have your rules and enforce them, sure, but a rule that is not applied equally is not a rule, but a weapon.
Saying that someone should not be expressing heterosexual fantasies in a homosexual-centered space is the same kind of logic that is used against homosexuals kissing in public by the "won't somebody think of the children" types.
Live and let live, people. We won't reach an understanding by cornering ourselves off in our segregated little fiefdoms where we throw out wrongthinkers.
That being said, the ability of admitting that emotions flared too high and apologizing is very good to see and puts this place leagues above other online spaces, so kudos.

Also, I never watched Fate/Zero (I disliked most of the Fate animes I watched and fear this will be more of the same), but from what I read a lot of people thought Saber was Jeanne (I know I did, since I barely knew anything about Fate when I first watched UBW) so Urobuchi put someone in-universe to make that same mistake.

That said, I don't find Artoria and Fate's Jeanne that similar outside of Takeuchi's sameface

Yeah going with the general main examples, Artoria, Mordred, Jeanne, and Nero all have very different styles of dress, and personalities plus general character tone. For example Artoria upon taking up the sword to become king became very stoic and emotionally suppressed, where as Mordred is very emotional and rebellious, so how they're drawn in terms of body language and general expression differs a lot. It's usually very easy to tell these characters apart once you're familiar with them in my experience.

Also yeah I still remember our old conversation where we agreed to disagree because you don't like most of the Fate anime, but Zero is generally different so you might like it. I have a friend that only likes Zero. Though maybe Fate just isn't your cup of tea and that's fine. I have a complicated relationship with the franchise, but also more than few people's worth of love for it as well haha

Deleted my old comment to make a new one. After catching up on the anime I think I can say it's probably better to not watch it for the Yuri. I've over the last couple of episodes generally lost interest, I'm not as into the series as I want to be, and I also can't see this ship going anywhere at this point unfortunately.

I always think it's funny when I see Castorice art with Stelle as if she's Firefly 2.0 when in game it's nowhere near as romantic in undertones as it is with Firefly.

1 of the reasons I don't like furries is because I begin to overthink things. Like why does she have a animal head with human proportions. Does her species give birth to weird animal/human hybrid babies or do they look more like animals and grow into anthropomorphic beings. It just makes me think too much about how their bodies work lol.
