Big Aino with a huge grin on the broom...god I just want her to be happy.
Also I can't blame her for not being upset about the resurrection. She gets to be a goofy little gremlin now instead of having to replace her brother.
Speaking of, oof on the parallels. Curious to see how it shakes out in the second half of the family reunion.

There were probably more hints before about Aino's pressure that will be obvious on a reread, but man honestly this chapter makes me look even harder into the whole"childification" aspect of all this. Because Aino's childhood was taken from her in order to be the hero that was asked of her after her brother died. So like, wandering around the world as a younger version of her, having wonderful adventures with the person she cares about most? She's literally living the life she was denied and missed for the sake of the mission. The mission that killed her! She didn't survive the demon king, she trained her whole life in her brother's shadow only to die too. Iro is what brought her to life, both extremely literally, but also in the past when they first met, as seemingly one of the few people who saw her more than her role, and chose to take on the burden with her.
Augh this is so good. The mom isn't even like some terrible, comically manipulative villain. She's a grieving mother with extremely high expectations, likely for both of her children, that ended up entirely directed upon Aino when her brother died. It already hurts and is only going to hurt more in a month. So long to wait, but thank you for the translation!!

I'm sure that two people who have forced their daughter to become a copy of their late son will be completely normal about the existence of resurrection magic

Or even, that two people who have forced their daughter to take up the mantle of their dead son will be completely normal learning that she's died as well and that after this visit is over, they'll likely never get to see her again.

@doughnatsu Thank you for putting into words all the things I was thinking while reading and working on this chapter. It's insaneee that the burden of these parents' expectations killed both of their kids and produced no proud legacy, only grief.

@gaudynails this is literally the funniest thing i've ever read about great trip. yeah

God I absolutely love this manga. It's fantastic in every way. For some reason of all the yuri I read on here, THIS is the one I think should get a small anime release, more people should see this'n.

Awesome to see a yuri that has so many references to my home country and language, torille! Also, Iro's name could also be based on the Finnish name Iiro, though it's most commonly used for men.

This is actually the first thing our QC Menord and I discussed while we were deciding to pick up the series. They suggested Iiro, as well as Ilo.

The reasons we went with Iro were:
1) we found official content posted by GanGan Joker with Iro romanized as such, and we're not going to argue with the author;
2) my calendar has a name day for Iro listed on April 5 alongside Irene, Ira, Irina, while curiously Menord's calendar doesn't. So at least my calendar's publisher thought it was a valid name :p

Just when I think it's a saf flashback chapter, this manga makes me CRY AGAIN!!!!! Aino was trying to live up to an impossible standard, a dead brother, parents who only see her as a replacement for a lost child, and not to mention, THE FATE OF THE WORLD.

But, no biggie.

It was amazing that she got to meet someone who could show her a moment of beauty and wonder instead of the constant dread and pressure that became her life.

Who knew that getting killed and resurrected as a mini-person could be a good thing?
