well it doesn't surprise me. the periodicity of citrus+ has plummeted. After going 6 months without releasing a chapter, I released one to close volume 6 and put it on sale and after that one would think that I would return a little to a more stable periodicity, but we are back to our old ways. But hey, if yurihime magazine is happy with this, then good for them. Citrus finished and this is a simple extra. Hello

finally caught up after taking a brief break

I completely get everyone's frustrations-- I remember first starting the OG Citrus series bc it was like the biggest "mainstream" yuri on the market, and at the time, OG Citrus was crazy with drama and pacing was great with the monthly releases.

New Citrus+ is definitely nice in the way that we know they get married eventually and we're just filling the gaps in between. My biggest gripe is although I was okay with Mei's characterization in the original, Citrus+ shows me that I legitimately dislike that their dynamic always kinda feels like Yuzu is on the short end of the stick. She's always apologizing, always taking blame, somehow being the only one explaining a thousand things when she's emotionally vulnerable --- like no joke... is she talking to some kind of wall....? like Yuzu is 95% of their emotional expression and emotional growth at times, and Yuzu isn't even my favorite character in Citrus.

I'll keep reading, but I feel like I share similar frustrations with some people here--- like I defended Mei during her "Meibot" accusations but jeez, sometimes I get why people think that!

good question. According to some comments that I have read out there, it is an asset of the Yurihime magazine, and that is why this periodicity is allowed and and the lack of information , which would not be allowed in another manga. Someone would have to explain to me how citrus+ can be an asset for the magazine, if in a magazine that comes out every month, in a year it has only had one chapter in publication in the magazine itself ....

idk about that tho, i don´t think it reached yuru yuri levels of mainstream popularity and yuri itself it´s a really niche genre, so while yes some time ago it was really popular among a really small set of manga reader, i don´t think it has the cultural impact to just live of his past

I can get debating quality but Citrus is clearly very popular to this day. The other stuff is more interesting to me. For example, I love seeing 2DK and Fuzoroi no Renri up there. For some reason I forget how popular Murcielago is every now and then.

Nobody doubts that citrus is popular, I'm the first to "criticize" but I'm still here. Those data that you have provided are wonderful, but they also continue to talk about the past (in my humble opinion) because Treats citrus and citrus+ as a whole, when here we are talking about citrus+, not the original series. It would be interesting to see sales data separating the original series, and citrus+, as two series Independent (even if they are not). The reality is that one year we have only had one episode of citrus+ and history (in my opinion) has taken a bassoon. The future will.If you don't publish and months and months go by without information, and if you don't give something "attractive" to the reader, in the end people will end up getting tired. Citrus+ has sold great. Also, this particular thread of the convo did start with someone questioning the series' popularity. Everything was in response to that.

citrus is being counted as a whole because the other series on the list also include spinoffs and LN versions to give them a little push to their numbers. Plus citrus is what in comic book industry is called an "evergreen title", a series that is never out of print because it consistently sells no matter how long it has been since its release. If you've seen pics of the yuri section of Japanese manga stores you'll notice that aside from the series they are currently pushing, citrus volumes (regular and plus) are always in the background.

citrus plus was also the first yuri series (to my knowledge at least) to have a world wide simultaneous release.

That seems to be the big question. Some people have speculated about the author’s health, but as far as anyone can tell that is indeed completely speculation. Saburouta does seem to be doing some Citrus-related work, like for the collected volumes. But new chapters of Citrus+ have been very few and far between and with (at least in my opinion) not a great deal of focus in the plot or characterization, and sometimes with the art obviously not completely finished.

If anyone knows more I would certainly be interested to hear it.

It has already been confirmed by several sites that in November there will be a chapter of citrus + (we will see if it has been worth the wait). And as far as it refers to everything is speculation (that if she is sick, that if she has taken a vacation, that if she is working on another project, that if she does not know how to continue the story and has taken some time to reflect, that if she has gotten bored ... who knows what we know for sure is that from October 2023 to October 2024 she has only published one chapter to close vol 6 and put it up for sale and apart from that three tweets, one on New Years, to tell us that she wanted to try "new things" (no idea) another to talk about merch, and another to tell us that the citrus anime would be free on YT for a certain time. We will see if after she publishes in November she maintains a more stable periodicity or if she announces something that we do not know. Greetings
