Yes, because no one in this story is being honest about their feelings and desires, and I'm certain she's no exception.

Is green tea have any sort of symbolic meaning in Japan? Similar to how it got used to describe two-faced people in China during the 2010s.

I wouldn't expect any symbolic meaning, but I wouldn't expect what you said about China, so I dunno. But in my limited knowledge, I would think green tea in Japan is like black tea in England, too much of a default drink to mean anything by itself.

Matsuri rubs me the wrong way. Has from the start. The cute, supportive things she says are always undermined by art and typesetting (if you can call it that), turning what would normally be seen as a supportive, uplifting character into a manipulative one.

I think she'll be a highly toxic influence.

Matsuri must have seen the Chechov's hickeys right? I guess she just played it off like she didn't?

At this point, every character in the cast seems devoid of realistic emotions or common sense, relying on manipulation to get what they want and maintain their two-faced façades. except for Wakaba (well kind of).

It would fit, the main reason to reject the idea is that it leaves Wakaba with nothing

It's not too late, Matsuri! You can just kiss Wakaba in front of Komaki, don't give up!

No, Wakaba has Komaki. Komaki's troubled and therefore trouble in and of herself. Komaki can't conceive of a world where Wakaba and her could be together, so she's trying to push her away as hard as possible to make Wakaba cut ties with her, because Komaki can't bring herself to do it. Well, Wakaba is naturally awakening to her own feelings for Komaki and things will go the way things go in manga. Matsuri is not a guardian angel.

Anyway, if you really have to know, you can always read ahead in the light novel I guess, but I'll stick to what I can glean from the manga alone.

Komaki is a burden at best and a bully at medium. Wakaba is rather justified in complaining about how unlucky she feels her life is. The story is pretty far from giving any reason Wakaba should want to be with Komaki beyond suspension bridge effect

That might be the case (debatable) but Wakaba is interested in and falling for (or already has fallen for) Komaki. So, she wouldn't be left with nothing.

Wakaba's like "I can fix her!"
Just hasn't fully realized it.

Matsuri hasn't done anything really inappropriate and has in fact been very direct about what she wants. However, some of her ways of speaking seem fake / deliberate, like all her pointed questions about Komaki or at times seem to be low key guilting Wakaba into doing something.

It does seem like her character is basically the fluffy shoujoish romance character. Someone earlier in the thread asked if the green tea latte (I assume what we'd call matcha latte) had a symbolic meaning. If it does, I think the meaning is "something completely ordinary (green tea), but extra sweet." That's her presentation, but it remains to be seen how sincere she is.

Being socially calculating doesn't make you evil, but you can't blame people for suspecting when the main pairing was decided on the cover of chapter 1. Clearly Matsuri is an antagonist role of some type, but she could also be a soft antagonist who has their best interests at heart. That would give her reason to be direct about figuring out exactly what is going on between Komaki and Wakaba.

Wakaba is so in denial its crazy, but Komaki doesn't make it easy either so they're made for each other. She spent that whole date blushing and thinking about Komaki, even worrying and volunteering to hold her hand through the movie.

She also took serious psychic damage when she found out Komaki might love someone--one might say she looked heartbroken. Yes, I wonder what that feeling in your chest might be. It's a mystery.

I have a feeling that the guy in the horror movie poster is the editor or one of the creators of this manga :D

I'm starting to think that these two deserve each other. That might be a bit harsh since Wakaba appears to be a perfectly nice person who is just a few levels above the usual "yuri protagonist" level of density. Seriously though, watching these two idiots going through increasingly intense mental gymnastics to avoid the blatant reality right in front of their faces is something else.

I know this is an adaptation of something, does anyone know how long the original is? Is it finished or ongoing?

The original material is finished from what I know and not long. Novels. Maybe 1 or 2 of them--leaning towards 1 but I can't remember.

Komaki is pretty much entirely the problem. Wakaba isn't really that dense or in denial, she pretty openly cares about Komaki, she's just frustrated to do so because it sucks being in love with a bitch who hates you. I can barely comprehend why Komaki thinks Wakaba hates her and her consent is impossible to get, Wakaba's pretty consistently caring towards her, going along with what she wants and trying to take care of her and not really ever starting hostilities, only really responding negatively when Komaki tells her she hates her and like wow how bizarre why would someone dislike being told they're hated. The way Komaki's actions refuse to acknowledge new stimuli and adjust kinda reminds me of a ghost or an AI lol
