So much of modern mahou shoujo discourse revolves around the question of "deconstruction" (in the reductive fandom interpretation of the philosophy) and dark/subversive magical girls, but a magical girl transformation being triggered by someone's entire body being dragged kicking and screaming into a magical mascot costume that seals them in is simultaneously more viscerally horrifying than anything in Madoka and more of a weird sex thing than anything in MahouAko. Sometime continues to remain elite.

Tbh they could have just called it "A Gyaru who is annoying to Otakus" and I would have read it, no Mahou Shoujo needed. But this is even better and already too short.

I mean that's where animegao kigurumi as a hobby came from yes, but a manga about a girl using one to transform that isn't just fetish material would be pretty neat. Also disconcerting large anime heads inside of an anime art styled manga is humorous

That's true, but the slightly creepy magical girl transformation is an interesting spice.

(also Moekuri~ that Chimera eating her allies to add their abilities to herself has some parallels to this manga...)

This series basically plays on the concept of "gawa" (how we act on the outside) and "honne" (our true feelings). This is why the Honnaders are basically people who got unzipped exposing everything they keep inside.

Also, since I forgot to mention it here, this was the second of a two-part guest series for Kirara Max, so whether it gets a continuation or not will be determined by reader feedback. Here's hoping.

TBC? so there will be more? I certainly hope so, I really like the concept and have fallen in love with the characters already.

I've already said this on mangadex but I love the plushie gore, I love the zipper symbolism. This series has such incredibly strong design. It's just all around great!

Like a dream. And that's not just a compliment but also the way this lets emotion take over, always at the brink of becoming a nightmare just has a certain ... surreal feeling to it.

This is so cute and colorfully even when the pages are black and white!!!
