Just a disclaimer
I made this post based on my own observations and with the help of people who are on the donjon server (https://discord.gg/EuGGsce9Ne), they gave me a lot of pointers. The server is just for people who want to know when the new chapter (raw) drops and also talk about music (stuff that is kinda not to be talked about on this forum).

Do some (including me) hope for serialization? Yeah. So we keep up to date with Sumiko's tweets to see if there is any announcement and stuff.

Male power

The 陽 here doesn't refer to the male aspect, but to his outgoing personality (陽キャラ), since he's obviously trying to strongarm someone who would be percieved to be on the 陰 spectrum (陰キャラ) using his status as one of the cool kids.

Jerkface

While hilarious and a true description of his character, it doesn't quite convey the same nuance as lame or similar.

Here he's actually talking about himself not being bothered by it ('it' being called ださっ, lame).

It's my choice to translate this as "Male power". It was not 陽キャラ but 陽パワー, which is the power of the Sun, Yang, masculinity, etc...(see the halo around his head). Just before, he said that he had never had any problem getting a girl to do his bidding, and I'm pretty sure the author wanted to hint that he thinks that being a handsome and cool guy, he can get girls to do anything.. So I think "Male power" fits better, especially in a yuri manga.

Again, my choice. I don't do 1:1 translation and I thought "jerkface" fitted better for ださっ (which is clearly derogatory and "yankee-talk") than "lame-o" or some "uncool" variation.

Here, ok. My mistake (but it's not that important). I don't remember how I came up with the "harassing" , but I think I was thrown off by the lack of kanji. 別に気にしてなんかね would have been clearer. I'll eventually correct it.

Other than that, translator choices, if there's no obvious mistranslation, are not something to be discussed. I know some translators who completely rewrite dialogues so it sounds "better" and as long as it keeps the feel of the story and doesn't change it, I think it's fine.

Why not? Keeping in mind that there is no “correct” translations and that translations can come in many forms from one to one translations to more interpretive translations, I think talking about different possible wording can shed light on the nuances of the original language.

The only way for the readers to get the actual "nuances" would be to learn the language or abuse translation notes.

You're agreeing with them, though? This just reinforces the point that there's plenty to discuss. Seems weirdly draconian to declare that nobody is allowed to talk about the nuances of the language. Especially given that nuances are actually often very relevant to the story and characterisation. If anything that comes across as trying to enforce your interpretation, which you've established yourself as being only one of many, as the "correct" interpretation, when no such thing exists. Obviously people shouldn't go around flinging unconstructive criticism at translators, but they absolutely should be able to talk about the translation.

To be honest, I quite like when there’s lots of T/N, especially when it sheds light on more contextual/subtextual information. But I can understand not wanting to use it all the time haha
