Yep, I found the first half incredibly rapey, hence why I didn't touch this one. But a tonne of people were asking about it, so... I guess that's why Yuri-ism picked it up.

Idk I mean I feel like Ooshima lost the characters a long time ago. At this point I just kinda read it to see people that look and dress like Nico Maki they all have the same face!!! with a vaguely similiar setting/ background.

Still beautiful artwork though and it's very creative, if not extremely diverted, at the very least.

I wouldn't know. I don't look at most porn, cause 95% of any manga/smut I read is Yuri and 90% of that is probably vanilla. The occassional hentai (use random search) I get around to look at just contains the rape and the female denying liking it up until the very end, usually signifying corruption is complete. I don't like these because it's always the whole 'oh you say you don't like it, but your body is honest' bullshit script that ignores basic biology...just cause you get a girl wet doesn't mean she likes it, but such is unrealistic fantasy, but I digress. Adding forceful sex at the beginning of any doujin that could have easily been fluffy-vanilla-kawaii desu-smut ruins whatever comes afterwards. The only reason I consider it a good read was because I saw a plot, at least I think I did, cause it was buried under all the crap.

You are not the only one. It was definitely rapey. Maki's line "you invited me in so I can have my way with you" made me cringe. While Nico may have subconsciously wanted it, and may gave her consent at the end, it seems to me that she only did that because well... there's no thing else she could do already, so may as well just go with the flow.

Maybe I'm just thinking to much since this is porn... but I still prefer it to be consensual. That's why I don't like Ooshima's Maki, who seems to be horny 24/7 and just wants to get into her gf's pants no matter Nico's discomfort.

Nevertheless, Crystal Sugar and Machine Gun is still a wonderful read though. A little cliche, yes, but it gives a very nice and plausible depiction of the girls' lives in the future given their background. Ooshima's comment about Nico's mom is also quite on point and interesting. I think Ooshima is totally capable of capturing the character, it's just... she chooses to make porn.

Hope we can see some serious stuff from her in the future. We're definitely in no lack of NicoMaki porn though.

^^^ Question is what did Nico invite Maki there for in the first place? Ooshima's NicoMaki works haven't had much of that tsuntsun dynamic lately even though that's like the NicoMaki thing (mostly 'cause it doesn't actually work so well once the two are together?), in some ways you could say this doujin was that dialed up to eleven.

The thing I disliked about anime Nico was that she really was just that self-centred, being pointlessly snide towards Maki and stuff because she stood out more than her. It was an obstacle to shipping for me 'cause it just seemed like Nico couldn't be in any functional relationship, like how could she even love someone if she was that obsessed with making herself the star. I've basically come this far as a NicoMaki fan by saying "lol, screw the anime characterization" but this is close to the only doujin I've seen thus far that's actually dealt with that conflict in Nico's personality.

Anyway, I loved this just as much as Ooshima's other stuff. Hooray for me, I guess.

Yes, most NSFW/porn, yuri or not, start a bit forced and with those specific lines, I guess I've seen it so much that I stopped caring.

Tho the NSFW works I like the most are the ones where both characters are clearly doing it out of love and enjoying it from the very beginning.

I guess i have to adjust my Yuri Googles. Can't seem to see the Kim Possible x Sheego ship properly. But definitely I feel the Korra x Asami ship (screw Mako!) and Marceline x PB (my fav's FP but it seems my yuri radar can't find a match for her yet. I guess there's Fionna but Finn's such an asshole so NO).

Nonetheless, it's the MakiNico ship that made me watch the anime itself. Though yes. Sadly in the actual anime, there's almost none to the MakiNico feel (if you'll exclude the other stuffs and just refer primarily to the anime). Unlike the other ships like NozoEri, RinPana and KotoUmi (well HonoTsuba is more fan-based) where it's more natural.
