Probably still my favorite ship from that series, but I don't have much faith in the author doing anything other than a "they stayed good friends forever" ending. That's why doujins like these are so precious.

Is it fair to say their subtext is getting textier, faster, than anyone else's? I say this as someone who roots for Yuri yuri, bu any Tomoko yuri is good enough.

About the only thing I see to maybe counter it is who Tomoko likes best can change over time .
