Dang it. I saw Naoko and the Delinquent tag and was overjoyed.

Then I saw only 4 pages and was sad, even moreso after bulldozing through them.

You can get paint thinner at any hardware store.
It hurts to breathe though, same as rubbing alcohol. It damages your insides too. You could probably get the same high just holding your breath

Lots of household chemicals, like paint thinner, nail polish remover, cleaning chemicals, and certain types of glue contain volatile solvents that vaporize at room temperature. If you've ever used acetone for cleaning, then you'll know that it's best to make sure the room is well ventilated, or else you get light-headed or dizzy. I don't know what it's like to deliberately inhale concentrated acetone, or butane, or whatever chemicals people use, but I assume it feels like that, except more so. I know they say all drugs are bad for you, but inhalants can be particularly dangerous.

Just stick to drinking. Or regular drugs.

Huffing household chemicals is the traditional method of people wanting to get high for one reason or another (usually more or less sad) but too poor to afford proper drugs or even booze. Popular among street children and similar bottom-of-barrel wretches I understand.

Kodama should just stick to short stories.

Damn, this was too short. Kodama’s short stories always leave me hanging, wanting more.

I don't know why but like apparently late 80s to early 2000s kids huffed random stuff to get high or something? Like I had PSAs about the dangers of huffing paint and stuff in school. Lots of media talked about it from then too... Some older books for teens in the school library just seemed to think it needed little explanation.

Never take drug PSAs seriously..... NEVER!!! Those commercials would lead one to believe that the number one consumer of hard drugs were middle class kids, when in reality it was their parents. Bloody hypocrites.

Huffing was never a big fad, because it was inherently dangerous, and the only people who did it couldn't afford real drugs, legal or illegal.

No, there were and still are a lot of people that huff. I knew a guy that basically lobotomized himself that way with massive permanent neurological damage and another that crashed through a cinder block wall huffing dust spray while driving. And yes, the reason it's popular with kids is because they're dumb and it's cheap and accessible.

Most inhalants - even nitrous oxide - work mainly by suffocation. "Inhalants are chemical vapors that, when inhaled, cut off the brain's supply of oxygen."

That's why some get off on strangulation, etc. Probably better not to tell these two gals about that.
