Kyoto animation did a great job and before the isekai hype there was the moe hype so they hit the nail animating this, plus... a manga about music but without the music is just half the experience, you can't sell cds or promote idols like that... Also, Kyoani also made an extra effort to make the emotional parts more incredible.
