She realised that Kyou-chan would eat/kill anyone who would ever harm her.
That Kyou-chan would literally kill for her. She sacrificed herself to put a stop to that.

This is one of my favorite oneshot.

The sacrifice makes no sense, as if "kyou-chan" now stops killing others. At the very latest when she finds a other precious person, will she start with killing again.. (sorry for my bad english)

I'm still confused about how the food got there, I mean she could've cooked it before she left but she didn't know she would sacrifice herself then did she? or maybe they became one person? or maybe she became a ghost that could cook and watch over her since there last line said she loves her smile and no one could narrate if they're dead? who knows?
it also seems like Kyou-san realized what she had done when she ate the food so she remembers her but probably not when she killed her
