kind of confusing, were they a couple or just fuck buddies? if it was the former, then the tomboy is the scum of earth for cheating and not communicating with her girlfriend. If it was the latter, then it's not cheating, and it's safe to say that even Kyouko was doing it with other guys and she's the one who's at fault for not confessing. I do believe it was the latter, going by the way the tomboy was pretty casual and not surprised by the rumors and the way she talked with the het plot device. so I don't understand why the rage in the comments? if they were fuck buddies then the tomboy has the right to call their relationship off and find another person. maybe I didn't see it, but what part in the story indicated that they were a couple? or are people here so naive they just want to see yuri happens without understanding the story first?

Well it killed the magazine so good riddance.
I will never understand people who create such works and who actually allow them to put them in an adult yuri magazine.
What was the message here? Lesbian can't resist the penis and even she will get hunted by it and be like any other women enjoying it fully and getting pregnant cause a guy wanted to do it with her and she was mad at other girl?
Complete shitty work.
But hey even such praised yuri works like Octave and What Does the Fox Says used the same shitty trope.
Strange a girl can never cheat on another girl with another girl and it always has to be a guy for compulsatory heteronormative drama box to be checked off.

UranusAndNeptuneAreJu posted:

I actually disagree, both with the "irrational mistrust" and the "what she wants is forever lost to her".

I think it was pretty obvious that Kyouko was cheating on her. Yamada was badly shaken by those rumours, kind of hard to see it as "oh no, the girl who just flirted occasionally with me at work has slept with another guy".

This part I completely disagree. It's that Kyouko was doing more than just flirting with the guy, she was leading him on consistently and aggressively. I don't think it's implied anywhere that she was sleeping with him. He thought she was genuinely interested in him, he realized she was just using him, and he got upset.

As for the "what she wants" part (as in, what Seo wants)...

Here I think you may be right. I don't know what the deal is with Seo's relationship with Kyouko. Was her sense of well-being with her a result of love, or just some kind of satisfaction of darker emotions? She clearly has some fucked-up ideas about women, and it seems to be a mix of contempt, hatred, and envy. So maybe Kyouko represents everything she hates about femininity, and she feels empowered by fucking her.

I think saying that Seo started "dating" Yamada is a little generous. I'm guessing they had sex once, some time later she realized she was pregnant, and they decided to get married. I don't think she was avoiding Kyouko because she was seeing Yamada. She might've just been ashamed, or still upset with her.

Maybe the point is that at the end, even she doesn't know what she wanted. There's some kind of message buried in this manga somewhere, deliberate or not. But I don't think it was crafted for the point of making a statement about life. Or if it was, then it was done very poorly.

I get why this would be upsetting to some, and it's a fair reaction (to the horror of compulsory heterosexuality, lack of communicaton, internalized misogyny, etc.). But I think there's a nice attempt here at highlighting problems. (Unless I'm reading too much into it.) And while it's sad certainly, it's not quite eternal doom. It's technically possible for both of them to learn and recover from this situation.

I agree, imo* this story felt more realistic than 60% of the mangas in here, sometimes people are assholes just 'cause, and many times good relationships fall off due to lack of communication and understanding (like one person wanting a casual thing while the other wants a serious relationship), Seo and Kyoko would had been fine if they both had a serious conversation about all of the issues, like Kyoko taking advantage of men or the rumors for example.

And sometimes, it do be like that.

It was depressing as fuck though, so many things that could've been avoided, just like with normal relationships irl, no matter if romantic or not, misunderstandings just suck.

I can't get the ending of this one out of my mind. The way Mitsuko acted at the end, smuggly smoking after of sex. Or, that goofy grin when they announced the wedding. It's like she was pleased with herself for getting knocked up from a crappy drunken one night stand. I really hope that the revelation, that she just ruined her life, over nothing, haunts her. I wish I could follow her around, and twist the knife. "Hey Mitsuko remember the moment you looked into Kyouko's eyes, and realised, that you totally broke her heart. Man, you had in tears. High five."

P.S. I know Kyouko really had it coming, with all her cheating. At least she did it off camera, and she had the good sense not to get pregnant. Nothing kills a romance faster, than your lover having someone else's baby.

I think the reason Seo got attached to Kyouko might be because she was literally the first person to accept her, to not ridicule her looks, to show her kindness instead of scathing remarks. I find it interesting that what finally drove Seo over the edge was not the "cheating" aspect, but her insecurity over whether Kyouko was faking pleasure with her. Notice how we never see Kyouko pleasuring Seo, it is always the other way around. Just look at Seo's facial expressions, how she obviously relishes in bringing pleasure to the other girl, how confident and proud of herself she looks. And then, that is exactly the aspect of their "relationship" she started doubting, in the end she was convinced Kyouko was "faking it", and that was what drove her into despair. Note that she sleeps with Kyouko after hearing the rumours, and the only thing that is on her mind during the sex is "is she faking it", not "my girlfriend is cheating on me".

Irony is that I think Kyouko is the only one who got hurt in the end. I genuinely think Seo was not actually in love with the other woman, she just got high on the power of bringing pleasure to another person, after her previous partners plainly told her she brought none to them. The moment she started thinking Kyouko was faking it, she proceeded to abandon ship as fast as she could. Kyouko's obvious sadness at the end, on the other hand, is a pretty good indicator she realised this meant something to her.

On a side note, Seo in general seems to have... gotten a really bad message out of all this. Here she seems to conclude that a girl will always respond with enthusiasm, even when faking it, so that is what she probably thinks under "the role of a woman", backed up by this scene, where I can not help but think she kept "moaning cutely" because he was asking her does it feel good. Given the previous scene with Seo asking Kyouko did she like it, Kyouko enthusiastically giving an affirmative answer, and Seo then dismissing it as faking, I think this scene mirrors that one, with Seo basically resigning herself to "fuck it, it is all fake" kind of thinking.

Or maybe I am reading too much into it.

That was a pretty good analysis.
I guess, given the nature of her insecurities, Seo was doomed to end up with a guy. That's the thing about men: they cannot fake their orgasms, lol.

It's a popular misconceptions that men can't fake it. I learned in my human sexually class that it's not uncommon, for guys to fake it."

Mitsuko's irrational mistrust of Kyouko and general misogyny backfire on her. She succumbed to her insecurity and now she has what the other women wanted, but what she wants is forever lost to her.

Or maybe I'm reading too much into it. Maybe it's just a story about bad things happening to bad people.

No i think that's pretty spot on dude

I love work that brings in a healthy discussion. Not every Yuri has to have a happy ending and be full of fluff. I love a punch to the gut type ending, that makes you reread it over again to see what you missed.

I love that the MC was a flawed human being, and I'm sure a lot of relationships end up more like this one then in the fluffy Yuri stories.

what a waste of time... not even the art was anything remarkable.... just some low grade average art. Seems like someone drawing nothing but nonsense porn trying their hands at some "story" and giving up after the first few panels

I don't get why people call this work "shit" or similar.
Story is fucking realistic. It's about insecurities and trust issues; unless you're a virgin, no offense. Tbh I prefer this kind of work rather than binge reading on loveydovey manga you're looking for. I know this is personal reference, but fuck you people who can't appreciate the artist AND the scanlator team.

I dunno, personally for me I think it's the ending, not because "het ending, must be shit", but rather because of how sudden it is. Story up until last two pages is pretty good, and setting up for some really good soul searching in regards to the MC on what she wants, and then BOOM, got pregnant so gotta marry the dude THE END.

It feels like it negates most of the character build up that happened up to that point. Almost makes me feel like this was meant to be a two parter, but due to backlash against first part the sequel was never made.

I agree that it’s inappropriate to castigate translators for what they choose to translate—they’re doing hard work that we all benefit from, so by all means don’t like the story if that’s how it hits you, but lay off the translators—they don’t owe you anything.

I also think people who do like something and proceed to tell people who don’t like it to go fuck themselves should take their self-designated superior taste in manga and shove it up their ass.

No offense.
