Mmhm. No, now that I look at it again it makes perfect sense.

Honestly, it may be out of nowhere, but a big issue I tend to run into with a series like this is that aloof love interest-chan acts like a dick for way too long and it gives me a hatred for her that doesn't subside when her tragic backstory is revealed. I'm glad this one cut to the chase and showed there's a mutual love to this relationship.

Except the actual quote is "sorry ! did it hurt !?" the !? evoke to me more a surprised realization and asking for confirmation rather than actually asking. She knows it shouldn't hurt her, but it did anyway, so it's probably not that she asked because she ignored her before considering she apologized.

A lot of people no longer bother much with it, but ponctuation matters when it comes to give the tone of a sentence, especially when writing dialogues. "did it hurt ?" and "did it hurt !?" is not the same thing, tone and intent behind the sentence. ^^
