I think it's kind of refreshing when a character is actually who/what they seem. Mangakas definitely have a thing for paradoxes and contradictions.

Yeah, the Prince is very open about her intentions and the MC gains self-esteem and a yuri awakening. Now she's prime to go out and find her own girlfriend. A modestly happy ending, but happy nevertheless.

Amano Shuninta, Takemiya Jin and Hakamada Mera all have stories where things don't work out, no matter how much they want them to.
