Not sure if it counts as bigotry, from what I remember most witches are evil or destructive, which is why they fight each other, three of the main villains, one in Soul Eater Not, are witches too, all the people who turn into weapons started as a witch experiment, that they need a witch soul to become a Death Scythe is part of her experiment, it seens most witches in the past did evil things, they kind of have a story, only later they discover that witches can be good and supress their destructive tendencies, that's why on the manga Shinigami-sama decides to have peace with them, also, if I'm not mistaken most witches they hunt was doing or did something bad, it's in part how they find them, but of course they probably must have killed at some point a innocent witch, I think it's another reason Shinigami-sama decides to try peace and Soul Eater is the last Death Scythe that will ever be made, I might have something wrong because it's been a long time I read the manga, but my point is that it's not just bigotry, probably... Anyone else have something to say abot Soul Eater witch hunt?

Also, you probably already know koneko, but just to be sure, the anime have a diferent story after some episodes, but it's not bad as some say, I know that some people doesn't like how Soul Eater and Fullmetal Alchemist are different from the manga, same for Hellsing, but their hate is pretty much exaggerated, at least I liked them... (T-T)

'most witches are evil or destructive' = 4 villains total in both series?
not clear how many witches are so most are too much..
not clear if there's any repercussion for hunting innocent witch.
did this story only focused on one side story only?

well i only watched the prologue so far.

There is more villains, but in the end for both series only 4 really move the plot, 3 witches that are sisters, Medusa, Arachne, Shaula, and later Kishin Asura, now that I'm starting to remember more we basically see the evil witches, because of the prejudice against witches most of them basically stay hidden or reside in the Witches Realm, people doesn't really know much about them anymore, what they know is basically because of what happened in the past and because they pretty much only find evil witches, another thing that I remembered is that only Shinigami-sama can give permission to hunt a witch, so thinking better I doubt he would give permission to kill one that doesn't deserve it, as for the story, it's not that it's focused only in one side, all the plot is basically about their fight against those villains, which is also the reason that Shinigami-sama and the witches were forced to work together against them and we finally get more information about their war, you need to read the manga to understand better as from what I remember the anime doesn't really explain it and I'm definitely forgetting something important or saying something wrong.

The witches are born possessing the path of magic, which is a infinity energy that allows them to use their magic. Infinity amount of energy sooner or later leads to destruction and that is why witches instinctively follow the path of destruction. That is how it was explained in manga. I only read up to 15 volume, so maybe something else is said later. But for now it seems that destruction is indeed in their nature and it makes sense to hunt them. So far Kim was the only exception, because her regeneration magic is a exact opposite of witches desire to destroy, so she was able to surpass it.

Well, there's Pandora, obviously. New Precure isn't the gayest, but definitely shippable and has incredible amounts of hand-holding. Some subtext in Grimgar if you squint. But, yeah, not much yuri this season. At least next season looks like it should be making up for it

So has anyone seen HaruChika? At first glance it seems to be another Hibike Euphonium, but the tone is pretty different and it's quite interesting so far, despite only being 2 episodes in. As a former band student, I always appreciate these band anime!

Plus the end of the first episode has an amazing plot twist that everyone here will appreciate :P

I know there's like 8 eps out rn, and not being up to date isn't me losing interest it's more like...
I like the animation so much I can't help but take screenshots and save them and it takes me like an hour to actually finish an episode, concluding it with 70-200 screenshots

Not yuri or anything but everyone thinks Tsukasa(blonde) is and sadly she's not gay and ship her with Kokona(blue). I don't think the show is that good but it's kinda the filler show on that day for me.

So, next season:

Anne Happy is a Manga Time Kirara series. The character descriptions we have basically state that some of the girls are in love with each other

Bakuon is about schoolgirls riding motorcycles. What I read of the manga didn't have much of in the way of subtext, but was certainly shippable

Flying Witch is getting an anime

Hai Furi is a maritime-themed school-girl series. Original, but what we know about it suggests the two main characters are likely to have some subtext

Onigiri is based on a fanservicey MMORPG and seems to be setting itself up as a moe series with minimal male cast

Pan de Peace is getting an anime

Shingeki no Bahamut Manaria Friends is a fantasy schoolgirl series that has the writer/director of Candy Boy, and, well, look at the website

Sansha Sanyou is another MTK series. Some male involvement, but not much

Pretty awesome critic I found about Valkyrie Drive on 4chan

So I just binged through this series today. Had been avoiding it for a long time since I have no interest in the in-your-face fanservices, but to my pleasant surprise, VD actually has some substance in it.

There are real lesbians, not just straight-girls-making-out-for-plot-reason. Mirei's attraction for Mamori was handled so well. So much so that I couldn't remember the last time I've seen a canon yuri romance being developed with such grace. It didn't feel rushed, Mirei's sympathy for Mamori just gradually changed into adoration and then full on romantic in a natural way. This is IMO thanked to 1) the excellent pacing of the show and 2) the tasteful execution of jealousy + protectiveness moments.

The OP and ED music actually sound good. I didn't skip a single OP for all 12 episodes, something I hadn't done in years.

The final battle was awesome. The weapons and Mirei's Valkyrie form all have great designs.

Most the characters, including the villains, are likable. While they're not the most multidimensional characters out there, they do exhibit some degrees of well-roundedness instead of boring archetypes.

My only griefs with this show is 1) the fact it's a softcore porn (The oversized breasts make some of the girls look less pretty than they actually are. The bare tits/butts/crotches, tentacle scene, undignified crude poses, etc. make the show look cheap and hard to respect) and 2) some of the plot points are lazy asspull (pretending to be a guy because "it will guarantee you to be a leader among girls", really??? Going batshit insane because you're being used as a lab rat, sure, but why not getting angry when they first turned you into a living weapon as well?)

Tl;dr: expecting dumb porn, got a decent action show with real romance instead - as long as you can tune out the porn parts.

I usually avoid commie when it comes to subs.

I am REALLY liking the new Precure and I don't know why...oh wait yes I do lol.

And since I don't see any mentions here: ERMAHGERD Koukaku no Pandora went almost full yuri! but I'm sure everyone knows since I'm like 2 weeks late :P

While I'm at it: Sumire failing was VERY disappointing, its a cheap way to set up for Akari's big moment. I would rather have Sumire beat Hinaki and be like "can you catch up, my darling? wink"...ok maybe not exactly like that but you get the point! it would have been more interesting.

Winter yuri report now that most everything is over: Koukaku no Pandora starts pretty gay and only gets more so as it goes. The relationship is sweet and handled well, but the rest of the show is kind of mediocre. Grimgar has a bit of subtext between Yume and Shihoru, but this is entirely in the background. Good series, though. The new Precure girls get there moments and are raising a kid together. The choreography on their transformations and attacks can be strikingly intimate

My report:

• Dagashi Kashi - This is one of the season's top stuff

• Koukaku no Pandora - Strong subtext, but its kinda shit with its WhoOOooOOaah-whaAAaacky direction

• WARNING - Nijiro Days - Has a man-hating-lesbian that jumps in between the MC and the love interest girl. She'll go straight for the MC's wingman who keeps dragging her away from the MC's girl. - WARNING -

• Mahou Shoujo Nante Mou Ii Desukara - short series, has subtext... I am not so keen on magical girls stuff (I vehemently avoid those)... but...This... its... ITS SO ADORABLE AAAGGHnsngdflgm;df

I didn't watch much this season...
Next season has lots of comedies so I am in for those.
