Hahahahha I've been reading a lot about wanting a some dramatic reaction but like I've been saying before I already knew what the ending was bringing so I kind of prepared myself like not even half way through the anime just because it's Kyoani we are talking about here xD
Overall I never really expected a yuri ending lol and I know second season is prob going to be het but I don't mind it xD(as long as they properly bring Kuminko and Suichi together of course) I do wish for an actual yuri anime that would fallow in this amines example tho -.-

Let's be honest, that is as gay as they could go. Anymore than that will involve Kumiko look side way into Reina eyes and then kiss her on the lip.

I means, we have Reina's glorious slow-motion glomping. Then the anime ended with Reina tilting her head to Kumiko shoulder and the close-up shot of the ultimate lewd hand holding. They could animate the aftermath, but it will just dilute what this anime is all about coughKumiReicough.

Other than that through, i think ep 13 was kinda a bit of disappointing. The music is only decent until Reina's solo part. It's a good final no doubt, but once again, i think the ep 8 set the bar too high for both animation, plot and music for the rest of the series.

Hey guys - some possible new information on KyoAni's Kumiko x Reina intentions. A few days ago a friend of mine asked Kumiko's voice actress Tomoyo Kurosawa in person what she thought about Kumiko and Reina's relationship at her panel at Anime Expo.

But the panel translator seems to be leaving out a lot of stuff! Kurosawa-san seems to be saying Kumiko and Reina aren't lovers or even best friends, but have some attraction that transcends all of that somehow. Any Japanese speakers who can give a more full translation?

People on yt have been saying this is the best yuri bait KyoAni's ever pulled. I may still watch it though. But it sure is a clever way to increase profit, luring in het fans as well as yuri fans.

Anime-only watcher here. Creating an account to translate more directly the Japanese audio recorded here from Tomoyo Kurosawa's AX questoin - http://osterreik.tumblr.com/post/123344044909/tomoyo-kurosawa-on-kumiko-and-reinas - I tried to translate as literally as I could, and noted the parts where I didn't hear her very well or didn't understand what she was trying to say. Overall the translator got the right gist of things I think, and cut out any excessive rambling and thinking.

My overall impression of her comments was basically that she and the directors/makers were conforming to Japanese-style, "this is a phase", "LUG" heteronormativity. The "chuunibyo" comparison- outright statement of impermanence and phase - is pretty much a death knell to any kind of for-real statement of same-sex love. But, you know, Death of the Author and all that. So ship on.

Disclaimer of proficiency: workable, but not expert; not a native Japanese speaker; took 2 years of Japanese in college. I'm able to watch basic anime without subs and get around Japan speaking Japanese with my current level of understanding.

The art and colouring in this show is really beautiful, it was really enjoyable to watch.

I started watching H!E for Kumirei and by the end of it I found myself obsessed with Asuka and Asukaori (there's not too much of their relationship but anyways). I was also overwhelmed by every other aspect of the anime and by the fact that there's more into its characters, even the side ones.
I really want a second season but I'm afraid my Kumirei headcanon will be destroyed, it was already bad enough having Reina crushing on Taki-sensei so I really don't wanna see something more between Kumiko and Shuuichi too which will probably happen if there's another season.

Is it true that there's an OVA coming for Hibike? I read someone posting about that on tumblr but I couldn't find any links about it.

^I hope it is. We know that our yuri dreams will be smashed if it does have one. (I'm hoping I'm wrong about that)

Awesome, thanks for the translation jkl32428! That's the fullest response we've gotten so far. My sister was actually the one who asked the question at AX and she was really happy to read your post.

We also got the impression that Kurosawa was steering away from a romantic love relationship, and that route would seriously mess with the source material. But then they did add an anime-original early dynamic between Kumiko and Shuuichi, so they're not totally opposed to changes (or maybe just additions). If the AX panel host had allowed one more question, I was next in line and would have asked Kurosawa personally about the director's instructions on Kumiko's unique dynamic with Shuuichi in the first season. :P Oh well, that'll have to wait until another day.

Don't know if it has been mentioned here but Hibike has been picked up for continuation. Really looking forward to people losing their shit again. There's gonna be a season 2 and a movie and you all know what movie means.

Maybe it could be interesting to see exactly what details and moments they choose to recap, see what they prioritize in the much less amount of time they have
