it's funny to read the comments because there are clearly two separate interpretations that don't seem to mesh well together, the first is the literal "how are these women going to survive looking like children" and the second is the allegorical "wholesome ending for people who grew up too fast". I read the second one. I wonder if people who had childhoods where they "grew up too fast" tend to read the second one.

I think that's a great point!
Honestly, I got a bit set off by being accused of transphobia and told to read weird obscure creepypastas, so thaaaat's a signal that it's time for me step out.

Enjoy the discussion, y'all.

Speaking as a mentally unwell, chronically-online bitch... some of y'all are way too chronically online.

This was cute and even got me to squeeze a tear or two over it (refer to the mentally unwell thing above). Trying to find something creepy in this so you can clutch your pearls and decry it just screams of needing therapy. That, or go back to wattpad.

@ ponytail.girl at the one hand, I did not initially realize that the original posts were all by you (if there's no profile picture I treat everyone as kind of anons, my bad) and therefore reacted more harshly on what I considered a more common take. So, uh, sorry, I guess. At the other hand

Honestly, I got a bit set off by being accused of transphobia and told to read weird obscure creepypastas, so thaaaat's a signal that it's time for me step out.

What?

Any normal human being will read the second interpretation because they take it at face-value. The ones who read the first one are the ones that tend to overthink and overinterpret things.

Was just wondering why there's no age gap tag, yep.
Also "tfw I could have chosen to retire early? and with the pension, too?" lmao

Cute story, glad they can have a second chance at childhood... was getting worried for a bit, thought it was going to lolicon territory

Wholesome One-shot manga (Technically yuri...But not the hardcore, very clear type...Almost bordering on subtext type yuri....)

Page 13 (Bestfriendo almost revealing herself)

Page 17-18

Your never too old to stop playing video game! TOTES~!!!!

Page 20-21
MC's mind instinctively and unconsciously screaming to change subject at seeing the small happy blush and look before the FBI can get called lol XD

Page 23...

LEWD! LEWDDD!!! LEEWWWWDDOOOO~!!!!! AT LEAST WEAR GLOVES!!!
MC going to have take responsibility...

Also...MC and her new bestfriend(Their wish wasn't bad, useless or terrible...But there are so many better wishes [Assuming there is a decent vast range of wished allowed despite no illegal stuff and assuming wishing back the dead isn't allowed]...Like having eternal youth at the age of 19-20 for 500-1000+ years before death...Time-stop magic, the power of super healing to cure cancer/ other illness...Then charging lot of money depending on the person's income. But eh...This isn't about a perfect playthrough for a game...But just a random somewhat wholesome one-shot story...)

Basically their wish let them enjoy their childhood for 6-7 years +(Giving both of them a extra 10-20 years of extra lifespan to life before dying of odd age...)

It was a cute story, but I felt it was a tad bit underwhelming.

We need a chapter 2 to end things off properly where they become true lover after becoming 17-18 years...Too much almost subtext yuri.

Asking for semantics reasons (and also to make sure I'm reading correctly) is this technically age gap? Sawayaka retires at 30, and Makoto retires at 20 after Sawayaka quits? But also they both age down?

Technically...Physically it was age gap ('Technically' in a physical manner but spiritually and mentally kind of nope but also kind of yes if you consider a 10 year different in age mentally an age gap)...Then it become 0=no age gap once MC use her wish to turn back to her childhood age(Same age).

I wonder. If the wish was phrased "I wish I were a kid again." Wouldn't that also include being a kid again mentally?

Also I have no clue why Makoto decided she needed to be a kid to reunite with her senpai.

Well...Since both of them turn into a younger age (Their bodies will likely affect their mentally and mind somewhat but their memories as adults also help influence them as well...Basically 50% effectiveness in being more childish...But thankfully the MC and bestfriendo probably both worded their wish carefully [Like I wish to become the same physical age as my bestfriend, I wish I can return to the body of my childhood day instead of foolishly saying I wish I was a kid again...Which can make you lose your memories if the wish ticket was a monkey paw type item...] or the magical girl mascot isn't a evil jerk like kyuubei that makes magical girls' wish into a monkey paw wishes....)

For Makoto/Bestfriendo-
Makoto isn't the smartest tool in the shed...Goodwill, kind and good intentions...But using her one-time only use to become a child due to noticing MC/her senpai yearning/looking at other younger children and wanting to enjou a childhood instead of being a child soldier(Magical girl)...Basically she made a dumb wish but one done with good intention and not a lot of thinking. Page 51-53 (Reason and answer why she did it).

Basically it probably sound and made a lot of more sense in her head at the time...But in hindsight could have use her wish for something more important and valuable while trying to maybe perhaps awkwardly connecting with her Senpai while they are both adults (Bit awkward but could have done so but revealing all her feelings, respect and etc.)

It not a totally stupid and useless wish...But there are so many other wishes that a more selfish and intelligent person could have made (Even with a somewhat limited one-time wish ticket).

Honestly...Bestfriendo need to be a more assertive and dominant person...Barely any flirting and romantic advance during their teamwork/job as magical girls??? (I know being magical girls and going to school probably killed a lot of time but could have made more progress for her crush on senpai to at least invite her out for a fee drinks after work lol)

Honestly, I got a bit set off by being accused of transphobia and told to read weird obscure creepypastas, so thaaaat's a signal that it's time for me step out.

What?

I pretty sure you both just misunderstood each other...
For ponytail.girl ...Sure I can see where your coming from but the MC here was not doing anything creepy like lusting over her, kissing and just happy having a sudden new friend (Though she was a bit shocked/weird out/stun from the look on her face on page 20-21)...Bit much to call it creepy (Well technically you didn't said it was creepy but you were being a bit judgmentally about MC and bestfriendo just playing in an sandbox like children which they know would look weird if they were adults but can now do freely without judgement from people shaming them with their eyes....EDIT: Actually wait nvm, you did call it a bit creepy on your first post on this thread lol...*Shrug*...I mean there was nothing in their dialog saying they would play with other kids, mostly just themselves...) when MC was even thinking of using her one-time only super powerful wish to make the girl forget about her so she can live a 'possible better' life without regrets instead of hanging out with a 'hag(JK, we all love hags, once your 30+ your considered a hag lol)' like her and MC freaking out at page 42-43 thinking she had weirded out/creepy out her loli friend by using her one-time wish with good intention.
Plus..Eh there are a lot more hardcore Loli smut on this site that is way more creepy compare to this one-shot (Your Eh would turn into a scream of horror lol)...This would be a scale of 1 and the other media works on this site would be at least 6-7, possibly even 9-10 on messed up scale...Thankfully some of the reader/commentators there were in their 99% right to shame said work (Though a pointless brave fight and battle since other reader just shrug and don't care lol) XD

For Zesc....The implied Castration comment is a bit much when being defensive for this work...lol XD
But I do wonder why think they got accused of Transphobia??? (Technically was told to write creeppasta, not read it...Which is probably way harder to do lol XD)

Basically both of you are having misunderstandings with each other, I think/believe.

What about live expensives and work…

Doesn't MC and her bestfriendo have a pension that can support their lives for at least for the next 60-70 (Possibly maybe 67.67 years ???) after they retired? XD

Yes I know your joking lol

Thought they better hope they aren't super boomer and visit the bank to take out their money instead of using a computer to use their money for online perfect or using credit card then using online account to pay off said credit card since a 10-11 year talking to a worker at the bank to get money is probably going to get the police called to help search for their parents (Same thing if they notice continue to notice the same child using the ATM machine repeatedly to take out their money from being a magical girl XD)

Being age 20 (Bestfriendo only stay due to senpai being there and would have retired sooner)...Not to mention age 30(Forced retirement) is already pretty late for most magical girls...So I am guessing and assuming that most magical girls quit/retire after the age of 16 to 18 (Small pension 'probably' lasting 15-20 years of average wages for their work as they enjoy college/adult life).

Though it will be a pain in the butt being treated like a kid till 6-7 years later....No drinking alcohol or driving your car...plus those height requirement rides at the amusement park...But hey on the bright side kid price meals and movie ticket benefits plus not getting weird looks for playing at a sandbox as an adult (Technically you can still play in the sandbox at the park as a adult but you will get weird judging looks from judgemental people lol)

Possible allegory for this story. = Basically childhood stolen due to unexpected IRL responsibilities like having to take care of your younger siblings from dead beat parents, working hard in your childhood in sh*tty undeveloped countries to feed yourself or becoming a child soldier (Magical girl in this case which is less worse since you get benefits when you retire instead of nothing). Regret about not being able to enjoy childhood, wanting to go back to enjoying childhood more.

I appreciate some readers' apprehension, but there's beauty in fiction giving the sorts of happy reality couldn't or "shouldn't", provided it's not at actual people's expense (like giving kids hope their divorced parents will reconcile).

Maybe the "correct" ending is the pair treasuring their newfound freedom as adults to compensate for the lack of childhoods, just like the "correct" villainess endings probably entail prison sentences instead of an enemies-to-wives-to-parents rondo. But where's the fun in that?

To me this story is really more parallel to one where two young mothers (not necessarily teenage moms, just mothers in their 20s) have their children grown up and leaving home, rediscovering themselves and reconnecting and wanting to make up for lost time.

It absolutely has elements for those who were forced to grow up too fast, or who were forced to experience childhood as something that wasn't who they really were, and that's what makes a good story, being applicable to more than just the obvious.

And really, who, after 30-40some years of life, doesn't think about what it would be like if they were a child again and could do it over again, but with what they now know? Or is that just a 'me' thing?

But.. I find myself moving and cried for this story
I actually don't understand the final wish they made for each other but a kouhai who deeply admires her senpai and wanted to be her no.1 fan and friend is very...

Very..

Very sweet 。:゚(;´∩`;)゚:。

Like she finally could do something for herself by having a friend by her side, playing playground slides or even playing games together..

This does hit close to home, yeah.

It's true that I still get hit with "wait but how are they gonna survive" questions at the end of the day, but I'm fully willing to suspend my disbelief.

One of the comments mentioned it being an allegory for a role (or roles) taken by women that ends up depriving them of childhood and life past a certain age, and while sad, I think it's a beautiful interpretation and makes the story make a lot more sense.

They have pensions and being a magical girl isn't secret in this world.

^ Yeah they could explain to others "I'm actually XXX (name) and YY years old I just aged myself down with a magical spell" and others would probably be like "m'kay".

Pretty funny worldbuilding if you think of it, though...
