I would also like to have a moment and be truly happy that just recently gay marrige is legal in Japan ^^
Not quite, it's only in Shibuya and it doesn't give them a marriage license so they're not legally bound per se, but it does give them certified recognition as well as the right to hospital visitation and shared rental agreements. It is indeed something praiseworthy as it's the first place in East Asia to even ackowledge same-sex relationships, so it is quite the stepping stone for the future and I believe other places could follow suit, but considering about half of the Japanese population is still opposed or somewhat opposed to it (from a poll held in 2014), there are still ways to go.
