Yeah, it's definitely a little off that Nigaki is so into Ruri despite really not knowing anything about her other than her literal stage play persona. I don't think the manga is going to look at that critically, but it's a recipe for disaster; Nagaki is seeing her own version of Ruri, and she doesn't seem too interested in learning about the girl behind those performances.

I like the precision of the mirroring between child and adult versions of Hana, it was a great visual metaphor and they didn't feel like they had to explain it in tone-killing detail

I think Sakurako has the Rinnegan.

Short hair Catra looks a lot more mature, since she doesn't have the wild poofy mane behind her, and I think it works well to illustrate that she's literally carrying less weight on her shoulders.

We could see Catradora every batch for the rest of the year before I even started questioning it

The creators made the character in response to a question posed by a fan of what Adora and Catra's kid would be like, is the short answer. Whether or not that makes it canon is debatable.
