checked the raws and the panel where she originally says her ex left her to transition into a woman, said ex is doing a stereotypical effeminate hand gesture + talks in an equally stereotypical way and the line ends with a little star, so the "sex change" is clearly meant as a punchline and not even a funny one. there ARE ways to tell a joke like that well* but this isn't it. i agree that the yuri was really underbaked and half-hearted as well.

* i'm a cis lesbian and the only time i ever had a crush on a guy, she came out a few years after as a trans woman. extremely funny and explained a lot. it happens!

Old magical girls are an instant like. 30-odd magical girls whose most likely OTL is the girl that actually deserves her while the guys think her being a magical girl is crazy are an instant BIG like.

I'm not really digging the forced yuri ending.

it was kind of one big build-up to a punchline and using transness purely for a joke is at least in bad taste. on the other hand the MC is really hot and I liked the alien girl chomping on her boob. 6/10

The main thing that's on my mind with this one-shot, is that Hazuki has been a Magical Girl for 30 years by the mid-point in the story. So how old was Mamu when she became the mascots fiancee? She doesn't seem that much younger in the flashback but I can't help but wonder

She has elf ears, so her default age is "whatever".

Man, everything is a loli to some people. She isn't even short. Also, the magical girl didn't break up with the trans guy - (s)he did. The way I read it, she wanted to get her life together very early on and had everything planned out. If she really was homophobic, she could have easily overpowered the villainess and thrown her into the nearest trash bin if she tried anything funny with her, like a shotgun wedding. She didn't get the perfectly normal life she imagined as a kid, but that doesn't mean her life sucks now.

Pruning the thread a bit. People have already made it quite simple and clear why they may or may not consider certain actions or presumptions as pro or anti-whatever. You don't have to agree and you don't have to nuts about your disagreements.

This is bad, even for a light Heart joke yuri manga.
The jokes aren't funny and the yuri is forced.

I find it kinda wild this one even got translated and posted here. Feels unusual for a manga where the yuri is a 2 page punchline and the characters are het until the punchline to end up here. And there really isn't any substance to it either, it's a setup to the punchline and that's it.

^ Dynasty has tons of stuff that isn't yuri, including this absolute gem that is one of my favorites which has no "substance to it either, it's a setup to the punchline and that's it."

Also, "yuri" is a big tent, and everyone's definition of it and/or the flavor of it they like is different. There's everything here from outright lesbian porn to complex psychological examinations of gay identity to relationships lowkey enough to spawn discussions about whether the characters are ace/aro. The thing that distinguishes them is that someone took the time and effort to translate the work into English, and they want to post it to Dynasty, not that they meet any particular taste.

Actually, this work shares a lot in common with the one I linked above. It's operating as basically a satire of a specific genre of manga, and the popular trends in manga overall. It's not a single joke at the end at all, there's:

  1. Inverting expectations that an average girl would jump at the chance to become a magical girl
  2. Then portraying the "I'm too old for this shit" extreme of her still doing it as an adult
  3. Then (and remember, this is a very meta work), making a jab at the industry via her ex-bfs. It seems like EVERY mainstream story has to begin with an isekai framing nowadays. Also, if you've spent any time at all on H-manga sites lately, you have to have noticed that a massive, massive percent now have gender change premises.
  4. The reveal that the cute mascot is actually a player and an asshole and has just been using his powers to dodge his fiancee for 30 years.
  5. The girls bonding over their shared anger at Maron being a selfish dick and continuing to frame everything the cheery way that a magical girl mascot would
  6. Then finally the inversion of expectations surrounding Hazuki's wish, where she ends up in a not "normal" marriage anyway. BTW, she's not forced into it. It's pretty clear to me that the joke/implication is that despite the fact that she did not initally want to have anything to do with Mamu, the alien girl broke down her walls over time and she ended up deciding to marry her. The joke is not, "har har she was FORCED to marry a girl!" It's "the opposite of the thing the character expected ended up happening! Har har!" This exact kind of thing happens in het comedies all the frickin' time too.

But humor is subjective, and I don't think anyone's going to find this funnier because the jokes were explained to them. XD

The alien lady, Mamu, is short lol
Honestly is more wild to me that the obvious is being denied, no matter how you look at it, she is a loli, it not even an ambiguous situation

This was pretty bad. The jokes fell flat. The ending didn't even feel like a yuri one. Even worse the magic girl was obviously straight. That just makes the gag ending feel even worse.

Also what's the message the manga author trying to send? If men don't want you settle for anyone? Lesbians exist solely because no man wants them? Its a really poorly told story, even for a comedy story

I honestly thought she was a kid and wondered where the age gap tag was when I first saw her

I don’t see it personally. I just saw her as a somewhat petite woman but not even that small.

I agree. She's not in any way depicted as childlike - she dresses like an adult, has boobs/an adult figure, and was old enough to get married 30 years ago. In the wedding photo, where she's standing right next to Hazuki, she's maybe 5-10cm shorter, depending on how tall Hazuki is.

No clue how anyone sees her as a loli unless they just have a completely mistaken idea of what "lolicon" is.

A lot of people compared short and petite characters and wrongly call them loli on tw*tter (They even call characters with large oppai and not that short as loli sometimes just due to the characters' childish faces which shows people just throw terms and words around without knowing)...Though if they meant loli like body type then they be kind of technically correct (Not fully but kind of but not really but half yes but also half no) but they often/actually mean loli most(90%) of the time when reality they aren't (Just short, petite and slender to be more accurate).

The joke and humor of this one-shot manga....Eh...Honestly it's hit or miss, a few people might fine it amusing but I just find it to be somewhat annoying to the alien mouse mascot tricking the MC and making her waste almost 30 years of her life. Alien mouse need to suffer more (Would be amusing and add more comedic aspects to the one-shot instead of the light punishment he got for lying and deceiving MC about having the power to grant wishes...MC wish came true on her own efforts and luck.) I rate the humor and comedy a 6 out of 10...5 out of 10 if I am being harsh. Would have increase it to 6.5 out of 10 if alien mouse suffer more...Need more loony toon violence comedy for payback for what he done.

The transphobic stuff is probably not meant to be intentional by the author and probably meant to be a slight joke since isekai reincarnation is also pretty silly break up reason (Technically still transphobic, not high level stuff but still counts technically unintentionally by the author while writing his/her one-shot).

But at least MC and alien girl got a happy ending....Though it would be nice if there was small time-skip implied and added in the text since it the author makes it seems like MC got married against her will. (MC's expression at the wedding was like what just happen after the slight implied Smex.)

There are multiple type of lolis (aside from the obvious at first glance there are loli characters that I myself have never thought were but they did) you don’t need to act as a child. Age is also not important, the term loli baba and loli kyounyuu/oppai exist. But I want to say, yes Mamu has boobs, but she is flat chest in the same way a lot of loli characters are xd.
So me calling her loli is not because I think she acts or looks like a kid, but because she has all the qualities to fit the archetype, especially because her design remind me a lot of hentai-eroge loli characters that are succubus (I'm not saying her design is bad, but is it easily found? I don’t know how to say this)

She looks like a loli to me. Also love the fact that you have to bash someone instead of simply saying you don't agree with their take. Real mature

See looks like Kuro/Chloe from the Fate Prisma series to me.

Personally I think people over use the word loli and call most anyone that's say 5 feet or under that, especially if they have anything less than medium sized boobs. A certain kind of person on social media especially over uses the word in negative ways and even applies it to real life people, so that's part of why I push back against it's over use. I'm glad at least that this one-shot hasn't been tagged as such, and I would strongly protest against the tag being used here.

That I don't think this character is a loli and I wouldn't agree with a tag change on this work in that regard. Also simply sharing that I don't personally agree with the word being used for characters like this in general, and stated some of my thoughts as to why. You shared your perspective, and I shared mine. We don't agree and that's fine lol

But you already shared your perspective. It feels like you only further stated this out of spite because others still felt she did. At least that's the vibe you're giving off.
