Miwa and Akane may not be a couple, but they're working hard to be the best family. I love the dynamic of Akane being a grounding factor for Miwa's anxiety. And Miwa may jump into things without fully thinking them through, but good comes out of her willingness to act. Like how Akane clearly adores An as much as Miwa, even if she doesn't show it in the same way.(And how Miwa gave that much needed callout to her family's callous behavior in chapter 1.)

Miwa brings the energy, Akane brings the levelheadedness. Together, they raise a kid!

I like that in this chapter Akane feels more like her own character than the voice of reason.

This series is hitting all the right notes for me so far. Akane getting more characterisation is reassuring because it could so easily have become like a few josei series in this vein where there's a trans woman present but it's almost exclusively from the cis woman's frame of reference.

The bit where she reassures An was so touching.

Agreed, the story has been very straightforward in showcasing how each of these three characters has something "different" about them, and shows a straightforward case for those differences being the starting point for their connections and understanding of one another. It's really sweet

simply being facetious about example three hundred thirty two of "trans character faces the camera and says 'im transgender / have gender dysphoria'" that continues to invite unwanted debates around said identity—not that ive seen it with this manga bc literally spells it out for the audience and its correctly tagged, but elsewhere in manga that have wielded not much less subtlety.

This chapter feels the most like a "thesis" of the story so far. Akane and Miwa both chasing after men to live up to an external standard of what womanhood should be, both trying to compensate for their own "fakeness" they feel on the inside with a heteronormative relationship, and then finally burning out and realized that they were never happy in that situation regardless.

One of the most succinct depictions of comphet I've seen in a while, you can see the moment where each of them realizes that it isn't worth it, and starts wondering for whos sake they even chose to live that way. If not for your own happiness, then who's happiness are you even pursuing?

I do think is really sad that the former boyfriend leave Miwa because she can’t have kids and at the same time it makes sense, as Miwa said, he is the only son and is a filial duty in various countries to have kids (like, some parent don’t care if you are gay/lesbian what anger them is that they will not have grandkids). But leaving that and the obvious shock of the notice aside, what caught my attention is that neither Miwa not the dude thought of adoption. Being able to adopt kids is difficult, you need to fit a lot of conditions, but is still sad to me how it’s not even a option for most, straight or not tbh, the majority choose artificial insemination or surrogacy.

This one was a good chapter, my favorite with the last one too but borrowing someone else's words on the forum in another thread, it feels too much like “edutainment”

Lily really appreciates the choice of words in this chapter. Not "Akane is a real woman" but "There's no such thing as real or fake women". Sometimes it feels like series are making an exception for a character rather than actually holding the viewpoint universally.

This chapter is a good build up to make Akane and Miwa a couple in the future but this is a short manga, so I don’t think they will end up together or with a man either (its two volume, we still need to explore An and Shiori, and An with Miwa and Akane and it’s been stablished that they are straight) Thought the posibility for either of them to discover their are not straight also exist, I don’t think it will take that direction, my bet is that the yuri tag will have to do with Shiori or if we have a time-skip, with An

This was a really really really beautiful chapter this author has a really good way with words that I feel like I don't see often with trans stuff in general , I think this is a very special one

Akane's ex is what I'd call a "solvable problem." Miwa's got a solution.

I keep being amazed by how much empathy the story has for all three leads.
