One of the synopsis/descriptions mentions her using the excuse of "not being in love, so it's fine and doesn't count as cheating", so I wasn't really surprised by that. Honestly this still feels like the prologue/build up to all the juicy stuff that'll happen later.

That's actually a shockingly common line of thought in Japan. "I got drunk and hooked up with someone for a one-night stand, but still went home to my partner, so it's not cheating" both happens a lot and is even commonly accepted by the cheated-on partner a lot.

I've seen some Japanese women say on camera that their man using a sex worker wouldn't be cheating, just sexual gratification, and better than his actually seeing another woman.

If they believe that's okay they might as well revert back to the era where they could have ten wives and six concubines.

As someone who has read blogs of various lesbian and gay japanese, it’s the same for them. I wouldn’t say cheating is more common in other countries (generally the argument “Oh yeah this is so common in X country”) when it’s a all around the world, really. The difference I think, is that in some countries is more common to openly talk about it, and so it is easier to forgive.

In the anglosphere we would call that an open relationship with a stipulation of no long-term partners, which isn't that uncommon an arrangement. I doubt it comes with the level of communication I think you need for these things, and I'm completely sure women don't enjoy the same benefits, but it's not like we have no context for this.

I guess it also explains why the focus is always on NTR, rather than just cheating.

I think this work can fit the Netori category, where the atmosphere is very different to NTR since humiliation almost does not exist, and it is about the protagonist "stealing" someone's partner/loved one. That’s what I mean! I used the “for now” because how thing will develop with the four girls is still unknow and that is the important part to define the line between cheating vs NTR. But also I want to add that Netori doesn’t generally make the stealer feel guilty or uncomfortable. I do hope we go dor the NTR direction though haha

Agreed in that it still won't be traditional NTR due to MC being the one to feel guilty, but there's still this whole dynamic of Yuki being very emotionally invested while Tsukasa seemingly uses that to her advantage while treating the third girl as her real girlfriend. That's been pretty overt by my standards. Maybe we could get a double NTR, but with Tsukasa as the one who was rejected it's more of a love a triangle situation.

It still is quite adjacent to NTR since from Yuki's perspective it will be like Tsukasa is being taken away from her. Even if she logically knows it's the other way around, they are already living and sleeping together and the like. She will want to avoid losing access to this. Since we get Yuki's point of view instead of the girlfriend's and therefore are primed to emphasize the most with Yuki, that's what makes it feel similar to NTR.

I'm almost certain they'll end up together for real by the end, regardless.
