Lol. Part of it is also I'm still using the app the same way I have been since 2011. I use extensions liberally - one that hides blue checkmarks, one that removes the "For You" and """News""". The app on the other hand.. yeah that's toxic waste in there.

If you are part of a community or have fun interacting with some other users it can be hard to abandon all of them and start again. Also, a lot of good artists are there and don't have alternatives, so if you make an account that only follows fanart posters (and freely block any drama you come across) you can still have fun while being mostly free from the poison. The trending/news section aren't removable on mobile but you can still ignore it.
