Here I am reading a yuri manga, but the pairing I'm most into is the two guys. Asakura-kun is too pure. Subaru is a fragile baby bird.

I'm also rooting for Kotooka, though. God bless that on-the-verge-of-meltdown angst reactor.

I thought Kotooka likes Tsukasa and not Washio? Have I been reading wrong the whole time?

Kotooka likes Tsukasa, who likes Washio, who likes Kotooka.

Given how short Kotooka's hair was when they all first met one another

Something, something, girls cut their long hair short when they get rejected and they have to start over again. It would be interesting if Kotooka got completely shut down, then socially ostracized, during the wave of the cliched end-of-year confessions. Also explains why she went so out of her way to attend her new school and why she seems so distantly traumatized by the concept of a trio of close friends splitting up.

Her relatively newish wound still festering with ten thousand chittering maggots.

*Edit; also congratulations on your first post.

Yo thanks! Cutting her hair after rejection does make more sense in the long run, yeah. And since her own feelings would have destroyed the equilibrium of her last friendship it makes sense why she's so obsessed with 'balancing' and changing everyone's 'unequal' feelings. "One-sided love sucks and third-wheels are unfair so all that can be done is rid everyone of their romantic feelings by becoming 'normal girls'!"

This manga is such a mood whiplash - jumping from fluffy cuteness to angstyness in seconds. I love that.

Chapter 21 spoiler in three sentences:

Subaru and Asakura make up from their fight (as a result of Subaru crossdressing as Tsukasa and apologizing while posing as his sister) + back story about the girl who confessed to Subaru. Later, when Subaru and Asakura meet face-to-face, Subaru makes some cute facial expression that catches Asakura off guard. ;) Basically an entire chapter dedicated to Subaru x Asakura, and it's progressing faster than the female love triangle (but only by a hairline).

You know, Kotooka, I want to like you, but you're making it awful hard. I hope Tsukasa just snaps and pushes them both down on a bed one day.

Bad news for those who like this manga. Chapter 23 will be the last one.

Canceled or does it have an actual ending?

^Well judging by how chapter 22 ended it will have an ending. I don't know if manga was canceled or it was planned.

Yikes, if only the writer was faster in developing things.
We'll most definitely get an ot3 friendship end.

Well, another yuri series getting axed... Damn it...

It's kinda surprising that it's this series, too, tho. It felt like it was pretty popular. Not to mention that it already has more than 3 volumes out.

All those angst & no proper resolution. This is sad :/

Well, that is sad. It wasn't some masterpiece or anything, it deserved better...

I can understand why it was cancelled. The relationship between the 3 was in a dead end and there was no way to have a romantic resolution without one of them being hurt.

So, most probably, it'll end in friendship.

And they married and had lots of kids with random guys.

No, no, no. Washio is gonna confess to Kotooka, which Tsukasa overhears. K rejects W and says it's not normal, but T doesn't hear that because she's already running of crying. W&K hear T storming off and run after her, but she gets hit by a truck and dies in the hospital. W&K end up blaming each other and their friendship is ruined. K later goes from one guy to another while W withdraws from society and becomes a hikikomori.

Both of them die alone and unloved, while Subaru and Asakura, who got married, are the only ones who attend the funerals.

Oh! And then we see the cliche "they meet again in the afterlife" starfield.

In the afterlife, all their genders are reversed. Same shits happen. Asakura & Subaru (now girls) end up together like the star-crossed lovers that they are. Happy yuri ending. The end.

I've been really enjoying this; sad to see it go.

I hope there can be a half decent ending pulled together.

Well, it sucks that this is getting cancelled. On the brightside, no more slow burn bs.

Decided to read and review this, and then found out "Hey, it's canceled!" That's some shit.

Well, still here's my thoughts on the series: https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/2017/02/22/nanashi-no-asterism/

Looking around I've gotten the impression that opinions on this series are kind of all over the place. I can understand why. Anyway, I like Kotooka, although she can be rather terrible, and I'm hoping this doesn't end with "friendship the gay away".

Expected ending, but not satisfied. I didn't even realize this was being axed until the very last page of the chapter (because I haven't checked back on this thread). :')

Now for the chapter summary (the chapter itself is 50+ pages long, sue me):

Picking up from where the last chapter left off, Tsukasa drags Kotooka to Washio's place so they can finally reconcile and go back to being friends. However, Kotooka and Washio end up bickering again, which drives Tsukasa to her wit's end. Tsukasa speaks up and points out that neither of her friends are faultless, and that they should also consider her feelings as well. Kotooka and Washio eventually come to agree with Tsukasa, and the three of them make up. Cue the waterworks from Tsukasa because she's glad they've come together again and it will no longer be lonely for her.

Meanwhile, Asakura sees Subaru's sleeping face and is sent into yet another fit of confusion because of how similar he looks to Tsukasa (being identical twins and all). Subaru wakes up because of Asakura's fidgeting and they have a lighthearted conversation about how no one has really ever called Subaru by his given name before (which Asakura did before he stumbled upon Subaru's napping scene). Asakura shoots him a smile, which prompts Subaru to ask him why he's smiling. Asakura brushes it off and just tells him that it's a secret.

The rest of the characters are also asked questions that are unintentionally personal (e.g. Tsukasa is asked about who she likes or Subaru is asked about why he's spacing out) and they all reply by telling the other person that "it's a secret." BUT that's not super important.

Now in the classroom, Washio and Tsukasa are chatting by the windowsill, where Washio thanks Tsukasa for being one of the main reasons why the three of them are friends. Tsukasa tries to brush it off by telling Washio that she's just exaggerating, but Washio insists it's true and that she is really glad that she could become friends with somebody like Tsukasa. Of course, Tsukasa is fucking miffed because she just got friendzoned dons a pained expression upon hearing this... and just to add the cherry on top, her insensitive as fuck classmates ask her if she has somebody she likes and they tell her that one's first love never really comes true.

Inner monologue from Tsukasa ensues as she's staring at Washio, Kotooka and Kashiwagi from behind. Tsukasa observes that the three are bickering over something and that it's clearly a 2 versus 1 situation, but they are still a group of three. She compares it to their friend group, where even if it's split off into two and one, they can still verbally call themselves a group of three. Tsukasa thinks that one day, Washio may be able to get Kotooka to come around especially because Kotooka previously stated that it would be nice if she could come to genuinely like somebody that liked her. But even so, Tsukasa will continue to treasure her own feelings, Washio's words, Kotooka's sentiments and this feeling of pain for which she has yet to come to find a name for.

In the final scene, Kotooka asks Tsukasa to lend them a hand with their committee work, to which Tsukasa responds with "Why me?!" Kotooka's reason is simply that they're a friend group of three, so obviously they all have to be together. Tsukasa accepts this, but before she is able to trot off, her classmates teasingly stop her by accusing her of dodging their earlier question. They ask her again: "Do you really not have anyone that you like?", which prompts Tsukasa to smile at them and tell her classmates that "it's a secret."

Blegh that summary left a nasty aftertaste. I still think that it's pretty amazing that until the bitter end, the author was still able to write 50+ pages, but have nothing actually happen in those 50 pages.
