Well, her reaction to the guys trying to pick her up was more about her trying to get away and when she sees her class mate being all clingy with that random dude she's more surprised than turned on or whatever. And it would be kinda weird for her not to react, since she reacts to everything. She even got flustered when that classmate was eating a sausage and she doesn't even have a penis.
As trafi said, she reacts way more to everything her friends do.

Agreed, though Ayame x Kagari would be nice as a second choice. Usually I have strong opinions on who should pair up but this is a rare case in that I really wouldn't mind all four of them <///<. Maybe Ayame just jumps them all one day?

Kagari is adorable through, and now read back Ayame x Kagari already had a bit of tensions since ep 1(unlike Sango where she acted all cool toward Ayame). Probably will be a bit one-side angst for awhile. Because Ayame will eat Kagari up if she realise Kagari's feeling

Yeah, although this is obviously yuri, the beauty of the work is that it really focuses on the discovering of sexuality as a young girl. This is the point of youth when everything is confusing and is really about discovering yourself, which I think is illustrated by Shuninta perfectly.

I mean sure there are plenty of mangas with pornographic qualities, but this is the first one that's really delving into the fact that embarrassment and awkward interactions with your crushes are so much more abundant than actual sex at that age.

I think cropping a page sums up a good deal of Ayame's social life.

It's a very different work, and vaguely reminds me of It's Not My Fault That I'm Not Popular! or the surprisingly excellent Onani Master Kurosawa, in that it acknowledges that people kinda think about sex a lot as they grow up. Ayame 14 tends towards erotica and comedy like a lot of Shuninta's manga, but I think it avoids being strictly pornographic by its weird intensity (its exaggeration of a sexually awakening character).

(like, if the post-pubescence era is normally like fumbling through a strange land that you grow to understand, Ayame's post-pubescence is like walking through a homoerotic minefield, blindfolded, after being spun around in place a few turns.)

There's a thing I've noticed with a lot of manga; high-schoolers are fetish objects, klutzy ecchi-comedy dopes, or awkward romantics that take years to work their way up to kissing and hand-holding. You know, the whole slut/virgin perception.

It's good to see stories that acknowledge the awkward, hormone addled, and introverted side to people constructing their sexual identity.

I love this. This is so Shuninta. It's so silly and humorous but at the same time a real story about girls finding out about sexuality...and learning that it's okay to like people of the same gender...and ironically learning it through being hit in the face with heterosexuality.

Well, figuring out that your first girl friend may not be your last one may very well fit into the theme of the manga. I'm still hoping for the foursome ending but I'd be fine with pretty much every pairing since all the characters are awesome.
