This was completely preventable though, so the disfigurement seems more like punishment than a price. A price is something one pays to gain another valueable thing, but nothing was gained from Anna and Bella hugging before they kissed. The true love's kiss was the price to lift the curse, the hug before that caused only harm.

It does not make the story bad, in fact I think it's pretty metal. I just don't think it should be swept under the rug with a "relationships are hard lol". It's toxic yuri, literally.

I don't see that as toxic. They were overcome with emotion and she fell into her arms. Most of the scar came from that embrace and their faces touching. Nothing there seems purposeful or as punishment. They just hold each other lovingly and seem lost in that moment. If anything it seems like the scarring was meant to showcase how into each other they were there that they didn't immediately notice.

I think so too. Good thing there are rarely breakups in yuri land. Would really suck to pay with huge scars only for her to have to find another partner later on.

I am in love with the page right before the kiss (https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/belladonna_lovers#104) They suddenly embraced but when Bella pulls back, she sees that nightmare again, and maybe is starting to fear that, even if it's love, maybe it won't work. Maybe she'll kill her after all. Maybe even after choosing her own happiness, it won't matter, and she'll destroy all she loves and only know heartbreak again.
But Anna's eyes in the last panel are full of nothing but love and trust. She knows she will be safe in Bella's arms. I just. ;;;;--;;;;;
It's good as a straightforward fantasy story, or more metaphorically of helping take on the pain of a partner's past without being destroyed by it. I really, really hope I see more books by this author, and I want to get this myself

Absolutely 10/10. I'm utterly enchanted by the fairytale atmosphere of this story. Hope they draw more!

Wow, it's the first love yourself first before you love someone yuri manga i've read.

This was good, though I don’t like how close she was to kissing the prince.

I found るぅ１ｍｍ's works with "ひとでなしの恋", a BL anthology with monsters, I really liked their story on the anthology.
And I found out they did a Yuri Oneshot, "Ouji-chan no Suki na Hito", which was very good. I thought "If they do another yuri story I would be so happy".

Then they did "Belladona Lovers". This is amazing, the premise is good, the art is beautiful, the characters have a human feel to them. The romance is simply fantastic, you can really feel their love for each other growing. Bella's story is so good, the metaphor in it is so smart. I can't help but love this oneshot.

The kiss= lifting the curse....It a good thing that they kiss as soon as possible after they hug...Because if they had panic and waited a few more seconds then it's won't be a minor scar but possibly losing chunks of her flesh/muscles...Thankfully didn't go the bittersweet tragedy route.

Kiss of true first then hug= no chance of poison scars.
Emotional hug then kiss ASAP after a few seconds= A small minor facial scar as result of their emotional reunion (Kind like a minor scar or badge of honor).

She probably doesn't mind the scar though (Surface level Thankfully and not body horror type scar).

Taking the scar is a sign of true love. To continue loving her after being hurt “by her” is proof that she’ll do her best to protect her….

and yet, the prince part of the story was the most unsettling in tone.
It was the only part that had Shoujo flower framing, but it was also the part in which Bella acted least like herself. Even if he didn't kiss her, because kissing her would've meant certain death, he seemed perfectly happy to let her wilt away in his cage, so long as he can just watch her.

This is really cute, the cursed girl rocked both her short and long hair so well.
