They're not the same thing, but they aren't mutually exclusive--"fussy" is a description of behavior, "tsundere" is a specific two-sided character type.

Karin is "fussy" in the sense of being "hard to please or satisfy" (with the further connotation that she loses her temper easily); she's "tsundere" because her fussiness is a mask for her affection.

And Anzu has a Professional Class AAA Tsundere Operator's Certificate.

I loved that bit too :) It's because she was given such a serious ultimatum. A good tsundere knows when they have to stop with the act.

Indeed. When a tsundere's done right, it's a pretty cute archetype.

This would be a good start for a cute yuri series.

In all seriousness though, I liked the evolution of their relationship and that Anzu actually appreciates Karin's tsun side in her own way, but knows when to bring out the dere. That duality is what makes tsunderes the best.

I can vibe with this. I dunno if there's enough there for a full series, but the mangaka should definitely do more with these two.

Does anyone know what the original Japanese word she was using for 'fussy' might have been?

^ My Japanese is limited but as far as I can tell from the Japanese title on the cover, (I haven't seen raws), but assuming they use the same 'fussy' it is 面倒くさい = Mendōkusai = troublesome/bothersome. (You might recall hearing someone complain like this in anime) - it's fairly common.
