They came into prominence because they made the best anime game that was ever made and that will be ever made, and now they're turning their back on their fanbase like this! Wouldn't banning anime avatar on steam mean it'd cut out around 75% of their user, if not more ? XD And what about all the "animesque" games on it ? Can't see how that might be even remotely plausible.

Valve's no different than any corporation. Their bottom line is income above everything else. So it's basically impossible for something like this to happen.
