Yeah I like it as well, I guess the only thing I've disliked is how it ended, not knowing what their relationship was. Although the extra heavily implies a lover's kind of relationship as opposed to purely friendship.

I liked how the daughter ( she's practically theirs anyhow since that elder sister is absolutely useless ) had a hunch as to what their relationship was but decided It would probably be better to say that she's just a friend. Smart kid is smart.

it needs to be made clear that this is one of the best yuri of all the time

I've read this a long time ago and I loved it. But the author's and artist's other works are to some extent really weird...

I adore this one, one of my favourite yuris of all. That one scene in the extra with them being close before they realize the little girl is there is so wonderfully natural and intimate, it would sell me on the series all on its own.

Fortunately, the rest is also fantastic. So it works out pretty nicely all told.

Why. I'm listening to Shibasaki Kou's Farewellove, whose first line is "Is it love?", when I progressed to ch2 p22!

I liked this manga. At first I was a little bothered by the fact there was no actual confession and the ending was a bit of a "did they, or did they not" (as obvious as it might have been, open ended final chapters like that one annoy me a little). Then, the extra appears, with two pages made of pure gold.

I liked this manga. But it ended too suddenly.

One thing I really like about this is the women aren't just OL's. All the female characters, not just the protagonists, are shown to do real work, not just photocopying and making tea. It's not very often I see that, in fact I can only think of three or four stories off the top that are like that.

but you are correct, this whole story goes beyond shallow and superficial. some of the premise might seem unrealistic, but it is more realistic than most of the other stories plus it keeps the reader cheering for Ebisu-san and Hotei-san. Now what irks me about the end is that it feels like (to me mind you) Hotei-san ended up more like a nanny/house wife. this is part of the charm of the story, but it's so unfulfilling and too nebulous of an ending. Now mind you, that's just my gripe. the story is still lovely and always puts me in a good mood. I just wish it had a more concrete ending. but again, that's me.

and yeah, you can't always have a definite romantic ending... but still, I hate open ended ones like that.

ok so not only were they really close like lovers, laughing and in that pseudo "i'm about to kiss you" position, but they also separated quickly after hana entered the room, which implies that they were worried that she would get the "wrong" idea.

second floor bedrooms. all the bedrooms are connected by a hallway, but ebi's room and hotei's room are connected by a balcony. note that the doors to ebi's room and hotei's room can be closed (and potentially locked, though I never suggest locking doors when you are taking care of a little kid, even if you plan on having sex with your significant other, being unable to access in cases of emergencies is a bad idea :P) anyway the point being that they could easily have behind doors activities without hana being any the wiser.

still, that ending wasn't nearly as fulfilling as I would have liked

Same here, it's obvious at the end Shrimp Mayo knows exactly how Hotei feels, and has come to love her in return. She almost explicitly says as much, and of course the extra makes it that much more clear. I'm pretty happy even if I'd been hoping for another kiss.

ah geez now you guys are making me feel bad, I am going to have to reread this manga :P
I didn't say it was a bad ending or that I thought it wasn't well written, I just think it is.... inconclusive. this might be due to the fact that when I come to dynasty and read "yuri" manga I plan on getting canon relationships (because I got burnt out on watching subtext/shoujo-ai anime -_- ) and when I have to read into the details it can be a little disappointing. don't get me wrong, if this were an anime I would be fan-boying so big right now! XD

but I still think it is a great manga ^_^

Yay for this as a featured series. I read this a couple years ago for the first time. It was one of the first Yuri I ever read. I think the ending was good in all honesty. It was different and nice. Ebisu saying her sister takes away everything she loves, and asking Hotei to ignore any passes her sister might make, is as good as her saying "I love you, ignore her please." And we already knew how Hotei felt about her. So I personally have no doubt that they do in fact end up together.

Awesome story... must read for Yuri fans who don't mind that there is practically no sexual theme at all. Which is nice every so often.

haha yay for featured stories...lol loved it, and after like 10th re-read still love it. i think the scene where hotei kisses mayo and touches her is way hotter than any flat out porn tbh. it's the...allusion to what may happen, their desires, etc that is much more appealing to me than open sex scenes. cause to be frank, there's not really a whole lot of um positions one can do for sex, so after reading who knows how many, you don't see a lot of variance. now, foreplay on the other hand, kissing, touching, etc, as you can see in this, can wildly differ from story to story. how it's done, when, with who, where. a lot more variance can be put into that. the desire in scenes like that seems a lot more ionno, legitimate? passionate? than when they are actually having sex, cause god knows we've all already seen the same facial expressions/looks/moans/groans involved in that.

I really like how this one ended. It's much better than a sexy ending. Though I would have liked at least a mutual kiss or something. At least a future with them together was shown.
