Big fan of love-hate relationships where one side hates and the other side loves. A little like "When the Villainess Meets the Yandere" actually.

Also, can I say, I like the dresses girls are wearing. I think the author put at least some thought into their design, particularly the color scheme (Ni Shang has black like her hair, Yu Wan has pink like her hair and eyes, Lin Zhao has blue like her eyes), which is nice.

edit: Actually, Ni Shang's dress also has highlights that are blue like her eyes; surely intentional then.

This is based on the assumption that, since this is a romance and we're introducing the premise, the motivation for her behaviour must be some kind of obsessive love. Which would make her a yandere.

In theory, it's also possible she's just a nasty little snitch who betrays people for helping her and then sets them up so she can betray them again . . . but then why is she a love interest? Like, I'm not a huge fan of the whole yandere thing, but many people are, it's an understandable schtick. But hardly ANYONE is a fan of love interests who are simply treacherous pieces of shit, that's just a lousy story. So the yandere theory seems a lot more plausible.

Maybe it's just because I recently accidentally read a het enemies-to-lovers manga that really rubbed me the wrong way (straight girls got weird tastes), but I hope Yu Wan is just most obnoxious little shit imaginable. Make that woman work for her redemption arc!
