While you're at it, Hinami, can you dig the Diggers out of dodge before they're eaten by Kindergartners in Beijing?

Hinami, cassava isn't even in the same family as the potato. Plus, its extremely poisonous in its raw and unprocessed form (cyanide compounds).

The first tuber they were digging up was sweet potato, also not potato.

Tbf I don't think Hinami cares about cyanide. Shouldn't feed it to Tsukino though.

Credit where it's due: the exact opposite side of the planet from Japan is (roughly, depending on where you are in Japan) about 600 miles south-east off the coast of the southern tip of Brazil.

I'm of Italian heritage on both sides, so insisting on margarine at the table when I was a kid would have been grounds for getting kicked out of the house and a quick disinheritance :P

Northern or Southern Italy? I'm from SW Germany and recoiled in abject horror too, I know this sentiment is shared in the Alsace (despite this abomination being a fr*nch invention), so this might be an alpine thing.

Mostly from Pavia, so yeah, fairly north-ish.

Too many carbs will put you to sleep! But, from a country where a yakisoba sandwich is a thing, I am not surprised by a pasta donburi. (Gotta wonder if it's a real menu item).

Rice and noodles (or pasta, in this case) don’t really go well together…

And that’s a double carbohydrate bomb, you need more diversity.
