Forum › Fluttering Feelings [SPOILER THREAD]
So, up till chapter 34, we know that:
-No-rae had a bad previous relationship with a guy who is in the army right now
-No-rae starts to notice her feelings (a bit rather ambiguously with all those questions with her oppa...)
-Seol-a is dense and naive
-Seol-a gave what supposed to be a lecherous look on No-rae's: lips & abs
-Seol-a got jealous, when No-rae said someone is pretty?(Or was it her pride as a pretty girl?)
For a conservative christian society like South Korea (Lady Gaga got kicked out and wasn't allowed to perform before), No-rae seems to noticed her feelings a bit too fast. In other yuri mangas, the yuri goddess dropped some sort of yuri porn out of no where in front of the characters and made them realize the wonders of yuri LOL
I know that in Asian society, girls friendship does have some platonic skinship, but I don't think looking at your friend's lips and abs like that would still be considered platonic friendship. At some point, I thought that Seol-a knows her real feeling already. But, it's a bit ambiguous that the words could also meant possesiveness. Seol-a never really had a girl friend other than Min Jeong, just a lot of guy friends who wanna bang her. Well, it's still ambiguous to what happened with her past friend... A hit and run accident?
Anyways, I'm still not convinced yet that this is even yuri or shojoi-ai. I'm more curious whether Samba will suddenly turn this into Het or not, more than how No-rae and Seol-a will end up. I feel like reading an alternate version of marimite if Sachiko were to first meet Yumi in college, not that it's a bad thing :3
If anyone here noticed a definite yuri moment in any of the current chapters, could you let me know which one? Thanks.

Burn the unbeliever! If not for their lack of faith in The Yuri, for their use of Shoujo-ai!

Noticing her feelings for a girls is pretty gay.

The fact that Ssamba themself said that it was "yuri", making all that could be ambiguous not ambiguous at all ? You do know that Ssamba is probably korean himself/herself and that he/she is not totally oblivious to homosexuality ?
Edit : South Korea isn't a closed and brainwashed country, while to some extent (probably more than in the west) people can deny homosexuality, it won't necessarily be the case to the whole population

Could have been lying. People are dicks like that. Well I am. I would totally lie to troll a fandom.

IMHO living in a conservative society has anything to do with how fast a person notice their feelings, especially if you have already experienced the same feeling before, it wouldn't take anytime to notice it (It would take time to accept it though).
@OriginalGengar Is it Shojou-ai gay or yuri gay? They're quite different. Based on my understanding, the first one is platonic, while the second one is 'I wanna bang you' kind of like. I often get confused reading manga when I still have my western glasses on LOL
@Martian @Underachiever007 No-rae's previous relationship was with a guy. Both of them are not at an 'identity crisis' teenage age or 'middle-age' crisis. That's why I was surprised by how fast No-rae accepted what she's feeling (if we consider those ambiguous questions towards her oppa is her, asking about homosexuality). This is not about realizing it from an early age. No-rae also said that Ji-Hwan has a 'good neck' on one of the chapter. At one point, I started to think that she's bi. But then, the next chapter is back to all shojou-ai. Maybe this is how Samba likes to tease his/her readers LOL
OriginalGengar Is it Shojou-ai gay or yuri gay? They're quite different.
Different in that one exists and one doesn't. Yuri is yuri and Shoujo Ai is Yuri.

We've literally just had a thread on this, it hurts me that I've seen shoujo-ai used more since it happened.
@OriginalGengar Is marimite yuri or shojou-ai? That platonic girl-girl relationship exists in Asian culture, not in western culture where everything is well-defined. After all, marimite is based on the writer's experience going to an all girls school in japan.

Class S is what it is.

I believe you missed my point there, since I don't remember mentioning anything about crisis or early age. I am well aware that No-Rae's past relationship was with a guy, that's exactly why I said that it takes time to accept the feeling. No matter how old you are, it takes time when it comes to accepting your feelings first time you realised you are attracted to the person of the same sex. However, it does not take a lot of time to realise your feelings. Realising ones feeling doesn't always mean accepting . From her conversation with her brother, it seems that No-Rae has yet to accept that feeling, or else she wouldn't be asking such question. Oh and I do recall reacting to your previous post about how fast No-Rae noticed her feelings, not how fast she accept it.
No-rae also said that Ji-Hwan has a 'good neck' on one of the chapter. At one point, I started to think that she's bi. But then, the next chapter is back to all shojou-ai. Maybe this is how Samba likes to tease his/her readers LOL
If you read the interview with Ssmba, you should know that there should be no doubt, and a little teasing would make the story more interesting don't you think so.
@Martian Thanks for straightening it up. I'm actually not sure myself whether No-rae was asking those questions because she already noticed and accepted her feeling or either one or even just comfirming 'her path' with her oppa (She is her oppa's lil' girl LOL)
I actually like the little teasing with Ji-Hwan confessing his feeling to No-rae because he felt threatened by Seol-a LOL
there's something I didn't get in the last chapter, No-rae's mum looking awkward before saying her parting words to Seol-a. Where did the "blank stare" come from? Seol-a's height? And what did Seol-a mean by "If there's anything you'd like to say"? That alone sounds weird... or was it just me?
Author art by ssamba or fan art that ssamba reposted on her blog from a long while back:
Source: thread/1641738, No.1644718, 22 Dec 2014
Here's a fanart posted on the author's blog. Though I can't find it now.
I can't find it on ssamba's blog right now either.
But the 2nd line does say "ssamba-nim", so it's probably hers?
But then again, it doesn't look much like her usual art style, so... ionno.
(Update: This is very likely fan art.)

Fan art by ssamba (supposedly) from a long while back:
woah! That's too cute!!! And No-rae looks a bit like Makise Kurisu here <3 or may be Holo... hmmm... now I want a spinoff chapter where No-rae cosplays somebody xD
Wow, if that's actually ssamba's artwork her style was quite different in the past. Not to mention No-rae was a lot taller then. She's shrunk with age or Seol-a had a growth spurt. XP
Anyways, I'm still not convinced yet that this is even yuri or shojoi-ai. I'm more curious whether Samba will suddenly turn this into Het or not, more than how No-rae and Seol-a will end up.
Ssamba has already confirmed that it's yuri in her Q&A. What more proof do you need? I'm sure the creator of FF would know more than anyone else what her story is about.
And I don't understand where this mindset is coming from that if something doesn't feature outright kisses (or more) or a confession that suddenly it's not yuri or that it's a "lesser form" of the genre (aka shoujo-ai, which doesn't really exist). As long as the romantic feelings are there it's yuri, regardless of how explicit or non-explicit it's portrayed.

d.d.d.
I actually like the little teasing with Ji-Hwan confessing his feeling to No-rae because he felt threatened by Seol-a LOL
Amen! I'm so glad I'm not the only one to notice this! (Unless you read my post about it sometime back. In which case, >=-l )
I got the feeling that he picked up on their growing mutual affection and decided to try and land a preemptive strike. Hell, we still don't know how he'll interact with No-rae yet since it appears that the two haven't talked and thus, he probably hasn't learned about Seol-a chasing after No-rae either.
I liked this chapter, the conversation between No-Rae's brother and Seol-A was really nice. I like it that he told her that No-Rae cares a lot for her. Little No-Rae is so cuteeeee. The fact the she copied that way of walking from her brother was sweet -feels like Seol-A-
Anyway, I don't know what is going to happen now. I guess Seol-A will try to find out what is bothering No-Rae while No-Rae is going to think if she should say Seol-A the truth or not. Anything could happen now and I'm excited because it's not going to take long until something 'explodes'.
Let's make a bet, will Seol-A find out about her feelings first or about No-Rae's feelings first? I betting on the last one.
Since Seol-A is so inquisitive, she will be probing No-Rae subtly. I think Seol-A will find out No-Rae's feelings but at that time, she'll also realised she has feelings for her. E.g. There's a robbery, and No-Rae protected Seol-A but by doing that, she got hurt. Seol-A's in tears seeing No-Rae bleeding... And then (fireworks) (fireworks)... _ _ _ _ (fill in the blanks)...
(BTW, that's a typical korean dramas). I think it won't happen till we find out more about Seol-A's friend back in high school that used her and then, No-Rae's past experiences with her ex. By the looks of it, I don't see much action for at least another 10-20 chapters down the track. It's quite predictable for authors to milk on the hype.

No, I thought the same thing, I had the feeling I missed something.
OriginalGengar Is it Shojou-ai gay or yuri gay? They're quite different.
Trying to define a Korean webcomic by mixing a Japanese concept and a useless western one... kinda weird and wrong if you ask me x)
I wanted to clarify this because it's something that people have asked so often.
Lesbian, yuri, GL, queer, they're all correct. (t/n: shame on y'all who ever doubted ssamba)
Please just call it whatever you'd like.
To be honest, those genres aren't very meaningful to me, or to the manhwa called Fluttering Feelings.A yuri manhwa doesn't necessarily have to scream YU! RI!! to be one;
If you follow along slowly, you will fully understand what kind of story this manhwa's trying to tell. ^^
I took it from Halmoni's Pastebin for the QA chapter. I personnally find that enough to understand what Fluttering Feelings is...

Fun to have a nice read here when I'm free :)
Anyway, every time a new chapter is out I'll SQUEAL and tell me girlfriend about it. She'll just give a small chuckle and listen on(she's one of those creatures who doesn't believe in manga/manhwa-romance stories).
I finally piqued her interest and she started reading 2 hours ago. She just called to say that she's on chap 18 and "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME". Yay an FF convert! Furthermore, some parts of FF do reminded us of how we were before we got together ^^ love this manhwa to bitssss.

Yo I'm just translating what's there lol. I think it's like the mom was looking at Seol-a because she wanted to say something, so Seol-a noticed and awkwardly asked. Or something like that.
For the fanart, I think it's from a fan. It's not drawn in Ssamba's style, and it says "Ssamba-nim", which is like "To Ssamba-nim". No one in their right mind would call themselves "nim".
Isn't "shoujo ai" a term created by western fans for softcore/fluffy yuri? While everyone else in Japan calls it yuri/GL collectively? If you want to see the "yuri" moments in FF, I would suggest reading chapters 1-34. That might help a little. But anyways, I agree with Ssamba. A work doesn't need to slap you in the face with 1000 lily petals to be considered yuri. I'd much rather have a slow but well-written story, than have kissing/sex scenes every other chapter. You don't need to have super touchy physical moments to display intimate affection or love between two characters.

oh, halmoni, no offence intended at all! I apparently was simply too tired and got confused by the if statement, but with this clarification I'm positive I've eventually got it right! So thank you once again! And I need to sleep more...

so true!!!
I wonder what's gonna happen next. If No-rae starts showing her affection, I'm pretty positive the people around will start noticing that something's strange going between the two. And probably the first one to figure this out will be Ji-hwan and Hye-gyeong. In fact, the former's already noticed something, I guess, otherwise he wouldn't try to attack all of a sudden. Or will it really go the coming out to her close friend route?
Anyway, somehow I really want to see the Seol-a and No-rae eating together. No big reason behind. Just know that No-rae likes to eat something delicious, and I want to see her enjoying Seol-a's presence rather than only stressing about it. Or perhaps Seol-a could invite No-rae to cook something together... like celebrate some kind of event together. Nah... I feel like I'm speaking boring nonsense and better go to sleep :)

Yeah, we just finished a multi-page thread on that very topic, and how shoujo ai really isn't a thing.
