"Grooming" is not just waiting for a child to grow - it's doing it with a perverted intention, that of "getting" the child as soon as possible. Which would be incompatible with the "overcoming her pedophilia" part of your joke.
Grooming isn't inherently sexual. An older person can emotionally groom a child while trying to 'keep things wholesome.'
The thing with grooming is the trust building. Riko is a pedo so Aika shouldn't trust her at all, and if they get together in the future, it's 100% grooming.

Though technically Riko is not 'intentionally' trying to groom Aika since Grooming (has 3 different definition, the joys of how funny words tend to have 2-3+ different meanings or change or gain different meaning after 10-20 years passed.)....Technically be your definition, adopted parents or teachers in school can be counted as grooming their students 'technically'....Though the sad, messed up and ironic thing is that some teachers actually groom their students in the end lol...lot of male and female teacher (even female teachers with husbands or fiance) does that and it end up reported on the news. I continue to be baffled by people who clearly hate loli manga reading a loli manga and then act like it's a psychological thriller.

I think more than 50% of us here in the comment section cannot do those gym exercise either...either due to being too fat (Too many American BURGERS and KFC chicken...) or just out of shaped/lazy (me being a example as well, out of shaped and lazy, not fat.)
Climbing rope toward like 30-40 feet high is definitely a nope out of me in gym class...I don't want to fall and land on my head then potentially die. Could only do it halfway before giving up as a kid...I don't want to die (low rare 3-4% chance) or get rope burn by sliding down.
