^^ I originally wrote a longer comment but an accident erased it all so I’ll recall it briefly. (Not dwelling on the other AI topic there.)
Basically, I don’t really mind not giving women the treatment they deserve in the BNHA universe. They’re support characters that don’t get to partake in most of the story, and I am okay with that. As long as the main plot and the main characters do their jobs well, with less to none in-universe discrimination or something against the rest of the cast and a decent amount of diversity and existence, then I am content with the author’s attitude.
And it’s true, no need to agree to disagree on that, because I admit that with how it treats women, there are a bunch of issues, but since there a bunch of women doing a lot of stuff and getting at least their fill of attention, I get to see many fan content regarding them. (Like Kayama Nemuri, Cathleen Bate, and Kizuki Chitose. You probably don’t remember who that third one is, but those are the three female characters’ deaths that I found to be the most worthless deaths in the story sense when they could have done much much more, and I just found literally the best fanfic telling the story about that third women when she’s supposed to be the least popular among them.)
If you check the AO3 stats, you can see that because of BNHA’s significantly large size, the femslash (F/F ships) stories of the characters get a more content than tons of other franchises.
Among anime space, it’s even fair to say that they are literally the top of the Yuri over there. (BNHA also holds the number one M/M ship among anime, even besting most English franchises.) Himiko x Ochako is constantly on the rise, and they have yet to beat Jiro x Momo as the number one anime Yuri. (Every franchise’s fans who do F/F more than them is not really in the anime/manga realm.)
So basically my point is that I enjoy the franchise, the extended universe, the creativity on its untapped potential which gets taken by the fans, and the F/F ships. And this picture is beautiful in a mature way, like I’ve said.
