I was bored enough to ask chat gpt whether Toga shouldn’t ‘atone’ through psychiatric treatment and training as a blood donor (since she already saved Ochako that way), and it ended up sounding pretty interesting. It would also make Ochako much more compelling to have her stick with Toga, given the public backlash she would face for months or even years. Making her atone by dying just feels dumb and cheap.

^Ew chatgpt. I think it’s better to just converse with other human beings that are familiar with the series personally. Anyhow, there’s a lot of things that BNHA could have handled better, including what happened with Toga. A focus on villain rehabilitation would have helped, and certain changes to society including more understanding and help for kids that don’t fit in with the present status quo.

For some reason, this piece has a very DC feel to me. Ochoko almost looks like she could be a version of Barbara Gordon.
Also, I want to see more of these two from this artist. This is a great take on them as adults.

^^^^ I agree with you and chatgpt. Atoning by doing good deeds while being alive is way more interesting than atoning by death. Nothing against clichés, but I would prefer a breath of fresh air more often.
Also, absolutely no shame in chatting with chatgpt and brainstorming ideas. Sometimes you just don't have anyone to talk to about specific topics, and risking talking to strangers online who might start trashing you for having a different opinion than them is not everybody's cup of tea.

^I won't trash on people for opinions (unless by "opinions" they mean nazi shit or other unhinged shit, which isn't the case here), but I will trash on people for using AI even after being told it's bad.

^Same, I genuinely think ai is bad and harmful for a variety of reasons. Especially things like chatgpt and the man behind it.
That said, I’m always up to discuss BNHA. I think discussing media with people and sharing opinions is important, even if we don’t always agree. For example me and juanelric have a difference of opinion on some things, no worries and I think we’re on friendly terms.

^^ That or "ChatGPT is sentient".
I don't understand what's so attractive in using LLMs except you don't need to use your brain to have a maybe-correct-maybe-not answer. I can see the reason people use it to cope with meaningless works forced onto them but otherwise I don't, especially for things people actually interested in (shouldn't you look harder if you're interested?)

I know I’m late to the discussion, but I’ll leave some of my opinion because I feel like it.
To be fair, if you want to know what happened to Himiko Toga, the My Hero Academia’s fandom.com webpage can do it for you, because they got just about every kind of info on there, if you just know what you’re looking for.
^^ AI is a tool, and a useful one, because it helps people do some of the boring stuff which makes life easier. At the very least I don’t think people should bear guilt just because of the act of using any kind of AI.
Also, regarding Himiko Toga’s death, I think that part did it rather well, because it fits her ideals and she did what she wanted for her life, compared to a few other female characters I could mention (three of them, to be precise, who should get more development and influence and screen time but got an unnecessarily anticlimactic death)
But if I’m being honest, after reading the entirety of BNHA, it’s still a very fascinating piece of work, and I am currently enjoying some of the fan works regarding the untapped potential the franchise still has. (Found two authors that were absolute gems who write unconventional stuff, by the way.)
After all, I personally believe that there’s no such thing as a character who can’t be likable or can’t be written a good story.
Oh, and I also forgot since this conversation has been derailing for quite a while: this picture is really good-looking. Very mature and loving for the both of them.

I'm not budging on my stance against AI, nor am I budging on thinking people should just talk to each other. I'm leaving that there as this isn't place to get into it, plus I rather move on from the subject of AI regardless, and instead focus on discussing BNHA.
I personally don't think there's a single female character that's handled well in BNHA, including Toga. That element is one of my biggest issues with the series. So I think we'll have to agree to disagree there.
Yes though the art is lovely, on that we can definitely agree.

^^AI isn't being used to do the "boring stuff", it's pushed by rich assholes who want to make more money while paying less people, and art and programming are two huge obstacles to that. This and many other things are why I'm against all forms of GenAI/LLM and EVERY usage of them.
@FluffyCow I agree, MHA (and the average Jump series) make very poor use of female characters, like they're only there out of obligation and for fanservice.
I genuinely think World Trigger is much better with female characters, and I wish it had half as much recognition as MHA.
Virgins' Empire and Golden Kamuy are also from the same publisher but not from Weekly Shounen Jump, and much better with female characters, so (outside of the usual Japanese misogyny), whatever the problem is it's mainly a WSJ thing.

^^ I originally wrote a longer comment but an accident erased it all so I’ll recall it briefly. (Not dwelling on the other AI topic there.)
Basically, I don’t really mind not giving women the treatment they deserve in the BNHA universe. They’re support characters that don’t get to partake in most of the story, and I am okay with that. As long as the main plot and the main characters do their jobs well, with less to none in-universe discrimination or something against the rest of the cast and a decent amount of diversity and existence, then I am content with the author’s attitude.
And it’s true, no need to agree to disagree on that, because I admit that with how it treats women, there are a bunch of issues, but since there a bunch of women doing a lot of stuff and getting at least their fill of attention, I get to see many fan content regarding them. (Like Kayama Nemuri, Cathleen Bate, and Kizuki Chitose. You probably don’t remember who that third one is, but those are the three female characters’ deaths that I found to be the most worthless deaths in the story sense when they could have done much much more, and I just found literally the best fanfic telling the story about that third women when she’s supposed to be the least popular among them.)
If you check the AO3 stats, you can see that because of BNHA’s significantly large size, the femslash (F/F ships) stories of the characters get a more content than tons of other franchises.
Among anime space, it’s even fair to say that they are literally the top of the Yuri over there. (BNHA also holds the number one M/M ship among anime, even besting most English franchises.) Himiko x Ochako is constantly on the rise, and they have yet to beat Jiro x Momo as the number one anime Yuri. (Every franchise’s fans who do F/F more than them is not really in the anime/manga realm.)
So basically my point is that I enjoy the franchise, the extended universe, the creativity on its untapped potential which gets taken by the fans, and the F/F ships. And this picture is beautiful in a mature way, like I’ve said.
