No one mentioning Nanzaki Iku and Saida Nika? All yuri author mentioned are on my favorite list, manga or doujin almost all yuri authors are on my list, even some with few releases like Ono Hiroki...

It would be easier to ask for favorite Non-yuri, because all the best authors that are here on Dynasty will be said by someone with time...

Exactly, at some point all of them will be mentioned at one point or another. Heck, check out my authors list. It has most of the authors mentioned in this thread already.

I can name my favorite non-yuri authors but I noticed that I only really ever read one, maybe two at most, of their works. And I can count on one hand, the number of authors who've I read more than one work of that I would consider to be favorites (like a top 10 or something). But on the other hand, I've read multiple works of yuri authors. Though, I think that more or less has to do with Dynasty making their works all available in one, easy to search place whereas other sites are kind of a pain to browse through.

Me too, most authors I read only one manga or two, like the author of Enfen Lied that I read only two of her mangas so I can't really call her a favorite, and I've been reading a lot of recent mangas that are being translated and I added to my favorite list, but don't know anything about other mangas from the same authors so I can't say those authors are my favorite.

Another favorite, FLIPFLOPs, there's a lot of Touhou doujins here and it's the author of Darwin's Game.

Non-yuri, that would be Adachi Mitsuru, Rumiko Takahashi, Masakazu Katsura, Yoshitoshi Abe, Kia Asamiya, etc, etc... too many great artists in Japan.

My favorite is probably Dowman Sayman. I love his art style and all the crazy plots he comes up with.

How about doujinka? My tops would probably include:

Mori
Personal Color
Tokoharu
Inuzuka Bowl

Favorite mangaka would include Kigi Tatsumi, Yotsuhara Furiko and Amagakure Gido.

It would be easier to ask for favorite Non-yuri, because all the best authors that are here on Dynasty will be said by someone with time...

A young lady walks into a store and asks if the store carries fruit, where she might find some. The clerk looks at her and responds, "Just fruit?" The young lady looks a little bit confused, repeating herself, "Yes, where is the fruit section, please?" The clerk eyes back quizzically and says to her, "But why fruit, ma'am? There are lots of other wonderful foods in the world! You shouldn't limit yourself to just fruit."

By now, the young lady is a bit exasperated. Who cares about other foods? She has plenty of food at home - all kinds. What she wants today is to grab some fruit, what's so wrong with that? She decides to try one last time, "I'm sorry, but all I'm interested in today is fruit. Could you point me in the right direction?" The clerk still doesn't get it. This girl is just obsessed with fruit, he thinks, if she limits her search so stringently, she'll miss out on aaallllll these great things in life. like kale. "Well you know, the fruit section is that way," he says, pointing towards the produce section. "But while you're there, consider grabbing some kale, or spinach. If you eat too much fruit you'll get fat."

Excusing his final comment, she thanks him and heads for produce. Really, she thinks, why was he so insistent? She happily purchases the fruit she came for and heads home, never so much as stealing a glance towards the kale.

tl;dr, what's the point in telling someone to ask for non-yuri when they're only looking for yuri. I don't get it.

The point is there's no need to ask for Yuri here, just read everything, and she didn't ask for Yuri, but for our favorites.

Yes. Exactly like cat naps. Focused around trying to post on Dynasty as much as possible.

To be honest, I'm trying to win as many awards as I can.

  • Most annoying poster
  • Most threads derailed
  • If Dynasty had a death penalty, most likely to receive

Amoungst others.

This may have been my fault for derailment :( But, you cannot deny the fact that most of the authors of oneshots and series will be posted here at some point or another.

Favorite yuri mangaka: like (apparently) many others here, Takemiya Jin, Amano Shuninta & Morishima Akiko. Also: Otsu Hiyori, Amagakure Gido & Tanaka Minoru.

Not really (usually, at least) yuri, but I also love Sayman's sheer insanity.

Nakamura Ching WOULD be a contender but Gunjo is like her only work, but she GETS yuri in that twisted and sick sort of way, so I dunno, probably no one

I'm not really up to date w/ Gunjo anymore, but I was very impressed by what I've read, it really breaks your heart. All that delicious torment...

Takemiya Jin is my personal favorite yuri mangaka. Morinaga Milk, Otsu Hiyori, Akiko Morishima, Minase Ruruu, Eban Fumi (for Blue Friend), Mikuni Hajime, Hakamada Mera, Rokuroichi, Momono Moto, Amano Shuninta, and Aoi Hana (the author, not the manga) are all quite decent though.

As for non-yuri mangakas the only one I'd actually put on my list of favorites is Junji Itou since he's the only horror author (for both books and mangas, not even going to bother touching on games or, especially, movies) who I consistently enjoy reading, even when what he's writing is blatantly supernatural which I tend to hate because it devolves into more horror-themed fantasy at that point than actual horror with the majority of authors.

For me, Takemiya Jin, Morishima Akiko, Hajime Mikuni, Fujieda Miyabi and Amano Shininta are at the top for original yuri; Personal Colour, Pikachi, Millet Soup, Mikami Komata, Fukutarou and Yohane really do it for me for doujins, and I like Mitsuru Adachi, Kozue Amano, Hitoshi Ashinano and some things CLAMP does when it comes to non-yuri stuff.

Oh, and there's really only one yaoi I really like, and that's Mainichi Seiten by Sugano Akira and Ninimiya Etsumi.

I'll just mention Kuzushiro since it seems that name hasn't been brought up.

Favourite mangakas... Oh lord is that difficult. I probably read a lot more non-yuri manga than most here.

But I'll try to remember on top of my head.

First I'll list the mangakas I like more than one title, then those who I enjoy 1 either because the rest is bad or because they really only have 1 real title.

Matsumoto Jiro: Freesia, Jigoku no Alice and quite alot of one shot collections.

Tsutomu Nihei: Blame, Noise, Digimortal, Biomega, Abara, Sidonia no Kishi.

Samura Hiroaki: Mainly for Blade of the Immortal and a few 1 one volume one shot collections.

Endo Hiroki: Eden it's an endless world! And All-rounder Meguru.

Irie Aki: Ran to Haiiro no Sekai and her short story collection Gunjou Gakusha.

Sakamoto Shinchi: For the amazingly visually impressive Kokou no Hito and Innocent. Just absolutely stunning.

Inoue Takakehiko: The classic Slam Dunk as well as his most recent pieces Vagabond and REAL.

Katou Motohiro: Q.E.D and C.M.B

Itoh Yu: Shut Hell and Imperial Guards.

Kei Toume: Yesterday wo Utatte, Hitsuji no Uta and short stories.

Katsuhiro Otomo: Akira, Mother Sarah and a few others.

Kaoru Mori: Emma, Shirley, Otoyomegatari.

A lot of these are graphic and contain violence of many kinds and graphic nudity, please be advised and check the Tags/Genre on MU to get a better idea if the titles are for you or not. But all the titles here are there for a reason.

I'm sure I missed a ton but this was on the top of my head. I will probably edit this sometime as well as continue the "1 manga" part of it at a later date.

#1 Takemiya Jin, #2 Morishima Akiko. Just about everyone will agree that these two are among the best.

#3 Morinaga Milk. But with a caveat. Nearly everything she's done without the NSFW tag is good to excellent. But if you start exploring her NSFW stories, be prepared to be traumatized, again! You have been warned!

Others favorites in no particular order are Amano Shuninta, Otsu Hiyori, Kazuma Kowo, Hakamada Mera, Chi-Ran, Rokuroichi. Again, as a 17 year old, you might want to be cautious of their NSFW pieces (oops, Rokuroichi only has NSFW), though I don't think any of them are as bad as some of Morinaga Milk's are. But Rokuroichic's Girl x Girl Collections are pretty porny, though they are mostly good stories too.

I have to disagree with all the Jin praise.

I have feelings, and she should be in jail for what she did to them.
