TL;DR few pages of trauma dump at the end doesnt justify/explain a problem that was never hinted or shown at all, everything was normal throughout the story and then a problem is created and solved right at the end, which make it a bland attempt at adding depth to a basically SoL one shot

You didn't find the wearing a bunny outfit at all times a hint that something was wrong? Nor the smoking, gambling, refusing her own name?

don't forget the fact that she refused to share why she suddenly showed up with only a bunny outfit and presumably some cash? I immediately thought there was a problem that she was running from the whole time and waiting for the shoe to drop.

Yup, as I said in a previous comment I thought this one-shot was really well set up from start to finish. That's a big reason why reason I loved it.

It feels like I read an entirely different story than the people that didn't like it. Which is part of why in my last response I was saying that I prefer to agree to disagree and move on. Plus this one-shot made me really happy and I rather not make myself miserable by arguing with people that strongly disliked it. Everyone has their opinion and all that lol

you know i was gonna respond to your comments but then i went and re-read the whole thing and check this out: i think the stupidest thing of them all is how she rejects the miso tako soup that the girl cooks for her and then she snaps and gets this flashbacks about her family offering her the soup or something like that but get this: SHE'S THE ONE WHO MENTIONED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. she said her family did it that way and that it was pretty good (you can go and check it out yourself, page 14) and then it turns out that's some kind of traumatic memory from her past like what??? if it was so bad why did she mention it?

you can't deny that's contradictory at least (and lazy writing)

When the bunny ears were on top of her folded clothes and on her head in the bath, I thought for sure there was something supernatural going on. Very confusing. Fine story once I stopped expecting it to go that direction.

I think its because of rascal dreams that anytime I see anything with a bunny girl I think something weird is going on

also its called magical realism, a writing form that has been popular for a very long time, and a very good use of one for a short story

The point wasnt the miso soup, the point was that she triggered her because she said words that triggered memories of her estranged relationship with mother, born from that desire of placing an image upon her that doesn't really exist.

this is NOT magical realism by any means

Definitely one of those times where I'm just going to sit here and think about how much I enjoyed the one-shot. Yeah, it was cute.

Mangaka making popular and entry-friendly works about schoolgirls in love yearn to be liberated from the wholesome yuri mines and enter the poisonous fucked-up self-loathing lesbian energy reactors. We gotta set them free. You have to draw girls with a dangerously fractured sense of self who try to drown themselves in stimulation. It's literally enriching and cute.

... yeah I didn't like this one either. The pair had zero chemistry, the author pulled another Shiho's dead friend on us with absolutely zero depth (please be sad), and the one strength this author actually had (fluffy interactions) is missing in this one :P If the romance makes me have no idea why the pair is actually together, then it's not a very good romance.

Or maybe I just couldn't stop thinking about how this is clearly the same author as Whispering You A Love Song and it coloured my judgement a bit, but I dunno :P My opinion of the author is definitely not improved.

I guess in a way it's kind of interesting to me how much different experiences contrast here. Maybe it's because I genuinely really like Takeshima Eku, and while I think she has her issues her I do think she's a good writer in my opinion. I might be one of the few people in this community that loves Whispering You a Love Song. Other people seem to think less of her, and that's fine.

As I've said previously we all have our opinions, same with how some people think this work is extremely shallow but I thought the depth was good. I didn't think it tried to make me feel sad and I thought it delivered the backstory well. I thought the couple's chemistry was fantastic. I also thought we got good fluff with the hug, the kiss, plus the way they smile at each other. Those are all reasons why I really enjoyed the work, and as I said in another comment it's like I'm reading an entirely different work than the people that didn't like it, since the reactions are so opposite in every way possible. I never expected this work to be so divisive, especially with how happy it made me feel when I was reading it from start to finish. It is what it is though, and I suppose I'll be a bit more mentally prepared for this kind of split with Takeshima Eku's future works lol

For me this was kind of lukewarm, nothing amazing, but not terrible either. I just couldn't stop thinking how ridiculous it is that she wears this one bunny outfit for a whole month (or was it more?). Was it implied that she has more than one? I didn't get that impression. Is she just naked while she cleans/dries it? How would she manage that without ever being exposed to the MC?

She can just be naked and wash it while Kano isn't home. Nude laundry days are a real thing lol

Depending on the material of the leotard, it should be washed regularly. Fishnets with bunny leotard always rubbed me the wrong way (had a relative work with the actual Playboy Bunnies and they never wore fishnets).

Right, I keep forgetting that drying machines are a thing. Plus, considering that she's walking around half naked, the weather is probably warm enough that it dries by the time Kano gets home.

Yeah rentals with a washer/dryer combo are ideal imo

so sweet and turbulent

felt rushed, maybe if the story was stretched into more chapters to give time to explore each character it'd be great. nonetheless, it's still a sweet read tho
