Two wrongs don't make a right. Being hurtful on purpose to "get even" is not okay

I'm on the fence about Jing's character. I'm not fan of the super stoic and cold characters that the other person has to constantly chase after. The story here does make it clear there is a good reason for her behavior though. Still, since this is about a relationship development it can get frustrating.

Anyway, there actually are 145 chapters out right now and even though this is super slow burn, it somehow still has captured me since I've read it in one go and didn't quit because of the back and forth lol

It's an adaptation of a completed web novel, if you're interested.

This slowburn + healing formula works so well. I'm so damn hooked!

Is the novel also translated or do I gotta learn Chinese?

Yeah I've seen people saying it's from a Light Novel. But ngl, I don't like reading text that much, unless the plot or characterization are intricate. Illustrations always make the story so much better for me lol.

I took Jing Xiu being 'stoic and cold' as more of an involuntary response, then actively choosing to be that way out of pure spite. She's hesitant to let Ji Youyan in for good reasons, but yeah, the slow development can be so frustrating. But there's a good development going on, and both characters are lowering their guard slowly/acknowledging their mistakes, sooo I have a good feeling for the future chapters (for now).

You can find the whole thing translated. It's great. I actually like it a bit more than the adaptation, especially since you get more in their heads in a series where that matters--though having images is fantastic, so I can't downplay that. With where the adaptation is currently at there's a lot left to go (all really good stuff).

I think Jing's cold demeanor to Ji specifically is because of what happened between them in the past. But generally this is her personality. In a later chapter she even says that They're both more like themselves when they're not together But that was one of the parts that I found quite interesting.

I actually posted the link to the complete novel in another thread the other day. It’s definitely worth a read if a little slow at times, but the webcomic is faithfully following it and the team behind it are doing a good job making it a valid interpretation of the story.
