A bunch of yuri I follow is now not on mangadex, are we next?

Hopefully Dynasty is just niche enough to be passed over. Either way this is huge blow to the scanlation scene. Many yuri I follow are only on MD and not here. What infuriating is that they apparently don't care if a series is licensed or not before included it in the takedown notice.

Yeah...it seems like some series that were only readable via fan translations were removed. I hope the scene bonuses back, because this is genuinely unfortunate and awful.

Edit: Do we have a list of Yuri specific series? I saw a list of 328 manga but it was hard to sort through.

On the one hand i'm sad that I have to go to aggregate sites for series like MOARN but on the other hand I want to just say "told you so" to any scan teams who only upload their works to one specific site.
This goes for dynastyscans too even if we get less takedown requests here.

Sadly even some niche yuri were affected. I was almost finishing one on mangadex and boom, taken down, it didn't have a english version. I hope the situation gets better, a lot of people put effort on the scanlations.

Virgin's Empire got nuked as well.

Naw you're in decent shape since Moon on a Rainy Night has an official release and you can just stay current with that.
It's us impatient people who were following the many chapters ahead fan scanlation who will now have to suffer for maybe years while waiting for the official to catch back up.

Even if the fan scanlation was lacking in quality, I am hopelessly addicted to that manga and was happy to get my fix.

Those sites littered with ads and stds probably already scraped chapters so the “backups” are out there. Scanlators not helping them out over the years by uploading there officially changes little to the situation now.

The old ones you can find elsewhere, sure, but I'm a bit worried for the ongoing ones, not sure how many of those were being uploaded elsewhere in parallel.

The worst affected series are probably old/ongoing ones. Being ongoing means there will be chapters that need translation, while being old means they have lost most of their hype and will have trouble attracting new scanlators if the current ones decide to quit because of takedown.

I'm in the same boat as you here. I was saying I'm a few chapters behind on the fan translation and was planning to catch up, I'm the type to read the fan translation as it's coming out while also buying the English print if I like the series enough. The official English release is often much slower as you mentioned, and in a lot of cases I think for many series the fan translation is better. So I'm just pissed all around.

There weren't any active yuri series on the list that I was following over there (besides Virgin's Empire), but they got a few others I was following, like Flying Witch and Ogami Tsumiki To Kinichijou. Losing WataMote hurts too. I was super far behind and now I don't remember what chapter I stopped at. Probably never finish it now.

The MD takedown had significant warning, we've had no such warning. As such, there's no reason to believe there are any mass impending takedowns. We'll see what the future holds.

Given the scale of the DMCA I wouldn't be surprised if there's some debating giving up MD altogether.
