God this gets better and better every chapter. It captures the helplessness and heavy burden of Mary being Colin's only source of support so so well. Throwing in Riko's whole deal into the mix has added even more layers to Mary's messed up life. I really do hope all these children get the help they need by the end of the series though.

Very interesting decision to rarely show the awful parents explicitly even though they are the main force behind the events of the story. Creates a very oppresive atmosphere because the problems are not ultimately the girls' yet they have to deal with the consequences.

If we stop talking about sexual assault it will stop happening? If anything this is something that should be talked way more often considering 1/5 kids getting to experience it, it should not be invisible nor taboo, it is reality and we can fight against it, but only if we stop having aversion to acknowledge it exists

This story is not pointing in good way the perpretator, in fact it shows very well and accurately the cope, the painful, heavily damaging consequences that this disgusting crime has, while avoiding to portrait it in any way which would be lewd or ambigous. It is a respectful potrayal.

I forgot to elaborate. Basically Gehenna is the source of the word gehenom, hell in Hebrew. Judaism originally didn't have a hell, but during the Middle Ages some Jewish religous scholars in Europe were influenced by Christianity and adopted the concept of hell.

Yeah, when I saw that with that cover. I thought it was gonna be about an older woman and a kid, that did a messed up shit to the kid, thinking maybe she's just short, or its just the drawings fault. But it wasn't, that when I knew this is fucked up.

A lot of the time people assume a story is good just because it tackles heavy themes. Well, this story is tackling some of the heaviest themes imaginable, and I genuinely think it's doing a great job at it.

Well, tackling heavy themes is hard, many stories crashed and burned and fell to oblivion attempting that (because badly written plus heavy themes equal people thoroughly want to throw the memories out of their heads both consciously and subconsciously), but those managed to pull it off will have a bigger impact, so when people remember "stories with heavy themes" they could only recall the good ones, so over time some people got it backward. But I agree, this series is doing good so far.

(I know this is obviously not how this will go down, but I need to say it somewhere) the story would end right now if she called the cops. I know Colin says her friend snitched before and nothing happened BUT now there's real proof that he abused her, i.e the buried baby. That's why daddy was so insisting on Colin flushing the bebe. Mary should follow her to see where she lives, call the cops, tell about the abuse and the buried baby, and boom case solved they get married and live happily ever after :)

Well with the latest chapter as of today, that evidence is about to be gone if they were successful.

And the story could go on with Colin running away. Although, the bad ending would be her getting mistaken as a runaway and be taken back to her dad. I'm assuming she already tried that and failed, that's why she kept coming back despite being able to get away from that house anytime.
