Once people read the newest chapter released, there's usually a pretty big blowup in the discussion. Then a week passes by and people go back under their rock until the next month and a half until the raws are released.
Thus, the cycle continues.
true; however, 143+-thousand comments. even during normal release cycles I could imagine a few dozen/hundred posts. take for example,
"The Feelings We All Must Endure," 37,815 views, 382 comments over 10 chapters, first release on 5/1/13
"Kase-san," 24,745 views, 320 comments over 10 chapters, first release on 6/8/12
"Yurika's Campus Life," 20,735 views, 215 comments over 12 chapters, first release on 11/13/11
"The Secret Recipe," 18,855 views, 235 comments over 18 chapters, first release on 3/7/09
"Riko & Haru & Irukawa Hot Springs," 22,046 views, 229 comments over 15 chapters, first release on 4/17/13
"Stretch," 69,669 views, 762 comments over 26 chapters, first release on 2/28/14
"A Divine Love Alone," 23,210 views, 290 comments over 17 chapters, first release on 10/9/13
"Sakura Trick," 33,851 views, 305 comments over 14 chapters, first release on 7/22/13
"Nekogurui Minako-san," 21,147 views, 364 comments over 39 chapters, first release on 4/10/14
"The Real Her," 26,638 views, 239 comments over 9 chapters, first release on 11/25/12.
"Shinozaki-san Ki wo Ota Shika ni!," 24,970 views, 291 comments over 19 chapters, first release on 10/5/13
"Yuri Mekuru Hibi," 21,444 views, 222 comments over 14 chapters, first release on 5/7/13
and then there is "Citrus," 143,447 views, 1316 comments over 13 chapters, first release on 4/6/13
now I need to note that 1.) i've skewed the view counts because I visited the threads, 2.) above i wrote 143+K comments and that should have been views, and 3.) I really have no life because I took way to much pleasure in crunching these numbers.
back to my point, other than "Stretch" which as you described sees more activity right after a release and in truth may be more active than "Citrus," no other series comes even close to "Citrus" and looking at the timestamps of the posts over the weekend, there was an awful lot of activity in the thread. welp, that could be because people are getting antsy in anticipation of a new chapter. I guess the point I was trying to make was that I was amazed at the interest in particular manga. as I look at the numbers more, Citrus' views/comments ratio is on par with the others. ~1% of views translate into comments (maybe even kinda on the low side).
on that I must apologize for this mini-rant (OK, more like blather). like I said above, I had waaay too much fun number crunching.
