Eh, every time there is a loli manga there's an endless amount of FBI jokes, which is essentially the same as the implication that a surprise Spanish Inquisition will get you ...

XD yeah but there's something missing ... the part where they say 'the FBI will get me but I don't care, I'm still gonna perv on these tender lolis cuz I'm a BIG PEDO hyuk hyuk hyuk!'

I can't recall anyone writing that before ... we shy away from going that far, dun we?

Yes, because most people know that, despite the Catholic Church, reading about things isn’t the same as doing those things or supporting those things being done in real life.

I think they ^^ are pointing the difference in fan reactions

The church says you're damned if you read about incest, and that's wrong; some people say you a pedo if you read about lolis, and that's wrong too

But the fans of this story who read it in Spanish, they make fun of the church by saying that yeah, they are okay with being damned, incest is the best, yay for damnation... while the fans of loli manga never make fun of moral watchdogs by saying that yeah, they are pedos and proud of it, fuck the FBI, bring in the lolis, go pedos ftw..... the ones react with humour while the others don't, and that would be the diff
EDIT: sorry if it's not too clear, I wrote in a hurry

Ah, I see. I stopped making fun of the Church and just started despising them when they outed themselves as a child-abuse syndicate. (My own high school principal was accused, and I’m not surprised.) So moralizing about sex from a Catholic POV gets nowhere with me.

wtf yall talking about

how many pedophiles do you think actually uses cartoon as material?

real pedophiles likely only do real kid pics

and I’m pretty sure most of us who like anime dont project the same kind of affection towards real people, just like how some people care more about dogs than humans

anime people are a whole diff species :D

Isn't that kind of like saying real lesbians don't get turned on by NSFW yuri manga?

I'm not quite sure comparing being a pedo and being a lesbian is really appropriate tho.

Well all the pedo stuff aside, I feel like the fans have kinda lost it. All semblance of plot and worthwhile topics have been blown away by a cavalcade of pure thirst. At this point just by reading the comments one might think this was no better than incest porn. Sheesh.

I wonder if the author just wanted to fulfill sick fantasies or actually didn't realize what this would cause.

I think the author probably wanted to create a story where this situation was plausible (as opposed to a hentai-level, “Hey mom, I want you— let’s fuck”), then work through the implications fairly carefully.

To me the jury’s still out on whether the author will successfully pull it off rather than copping out with a “moral” ending or descending into ero-nonsense (the multiple flashbacks in particular make it hard for me to get a firm handle on the overall trajectory of the series).

But the latest chapter, and especially the panel of a poor Asuka shell-shocked by her mom’s inadvertent (probably) dom behavior, was simultaneously hilarious and touching. It’s scenes like that one that make me hopeful for an effective “I know it’s wrong but I don’t wanna be right” ending.

See this is the stuff I mean. To me that panel was clearly about Asuka being extremely ashamed after masturbating on her mom's bed and just trying to avoid her at all costs. She wasn't "turned on" or dommed or whatever... Has anyone ever been caught masturbating by their parents? It's literally the worst thing.

Someone even said something silly like "her panties even got wet". Excuse me? She just did the deed. Of course they are sticky.

Let's keep a semblance of objectivity here.

This reading completely ignores the way the previous two pages are staged to overtly sexualize that encounter.

Ayako thinks she’s just giving Asuka a stern parental talking to, but she throws her daughter down on the bed, accidentally (we assume) grinds her knee in her crotch (accompanied by the sfx “grind”), then strokes her thigh (in scolding her about getting creases in her skirt).

Certainly Asuka is ashamed, and she’s not thinking of her response as a good thing or reveling in it. But denial of the sexual implications of that sequence is not the same as objectivity.

So you admit it's all in the perspective of the reader, not the characters. I see very little, if any, indication that Asuka has the same reaction to this as the readers do.

I don't really care how sexual the author wants to make the moments, all I care about is that neither side actually interpreted it that way themselves. Those are two different layers.

Thirst supersedes all as usual I guess.

There is no textual evidence that Asuka’s response is not sexual and plenty that it is. I’m not sure why you are so invested in denying the obvious implication of the text and projecting it onto the imaginations of readers.

But ultimately that’s your concern.

Wait... Are you seriously arguing that the same Asuka even you agree is interested in her mom as much as to masturbate to her on her bed would not have a sexual reaction to this kind of touching by the object of her desires?

First of all, at this point she doesn't understand what she feels for her mother yet (she didn't masturbate to her in her mind, she was just attracted by the smell), secondly, even if she had one, it would be superseded by unrelenting shame, fear and instinct to escape. She was downright afraid by the end of the whole thing. Because she doesn't know she is attracted to her mom, in her mind only the fact that she did something really shameful and her parent might find out is relevant.

She has never shown an extreme reaction like that again even when she knew her feelings, so that just seems implausible at best.

Note that neither I not Blastaar are arguing against this part, but this does not change the nature of her reaction in any way. Moreso, you're also ignoring her blushing as well as the slight moans accompanied with little hearts denoting her reaction here.

Because blushing has never denoted anything but sexual excitement...
Again, reader's perception, obviously intentional by the author, not relevant to the characters. You don't think Ayako would have had a reaction if her daughter actually moaned sexually?

And of course it changes everything. Intent, emotions and perception decide exactly what the nature of the reaction is.

If it's intentional by the author, how can it not be relevant to the characters? It is the author's intention to show us what the characters are feeling, after all.
