They're black on the artist's pixiv too, so I guess it's intentional.

Also, their color schemes strongly remind me of Saber and Tohsaka from Fate/stay night. The ol' blue-and-white vs. red-and-black contrasts...

I don't know why this is all spoilered, but the demon needed the "liquid courage" to confess her true nature after the two had already been together for a while. Notice that the horns and tail are invisible at the beginning of the chapter.
