It seems Meidom is so taken by Yuzutop's sincerity that she will allow her to take the lead... for now.

Mei's current attitude toward physical affection strikes me like so many elements in the series did: a very plausible argument can be made that it's consistent with the development of her character, but to me it doesn't feel exactly right with the character as a whole.

It's definitely easy to see Mei's early physical aggression as being an aspect of her negative psychological state at that time, something that she would now feel like she wants to leave behind.

But the more emotionally honest interactions as her connection with Yuzu grew deeper were also often physical--that first real kiss (was it Chapter 8?) was probably the hottest moment in the entire series, and, although Mei continued to be much more restrained than Yuzu (who isn't?), it was consistently a given that there was a significant amount of physical desire on both sides of the relationship. What, after all, was the point of that whole (almost interminable) festival scene otherwise?

But after that Arranged Marriage Lobotomy and Libido Suppression event, a person who once seemed like a temporarily quiescent volcano of desire became . . . something else entirely.

Again, it's arguably not entirely inconsistent with Mei's character for her to have become Miss Pre-Nuptial Purity Queen, but to me it's not particularly satisfactory either, not because I just want to see them get it on, but because it inevitably leads to more scenes of Mei fending off Yuzu (physically and emotionally) even though the two of them are now supposed to be closer than ever before.

After this chapter, I really think all people who have Matsuri as their favourite Citrus character (and, yes, even @matsuri_wins) are reconsidering their choice of favourite Citrus character. I mean, she's just so invasive, though, in her defense, that did end up giving me a lot of laughter reading this.

Also, about the credit page:
The scanlation team really put the chaos in Chaosteam.
See what I did there?

EDIT:
I'll see myself out...

Why tho? She has become a lot more bearable than in the OG manga already. Comparatively.
She is still an annoying stalker tho.

It's exactly that stalking and invasity actually that I find putting off not that I hate her, I just like her less than most other characters...

She's one of the best characters if not the best. She's the main reason why Mei & Yuzu are together

Yes, but she is not as bad as before. This is actually the toned down Matsuri.
So people who liked literal Satan Matsuri before will probably not take issue with her now.

I think this time around, Mei wants to reward Yuzu’s feelings emotionally.

What bound them the first time around was physical. The connection turned emotional but Mei had trouble expressing herself. This time, Mei wants to give Yuzu something she couldn’t before: consideration, honesty, perhaps an open line of communication and time.

Also, Mei probably feels guilty that she hurt Yuzu and now wants to show and prove that she loves Yuzu in other ways beside the obvious physical demonstrations.

And of course, maybe Mei’s trying to gauge how much Yuzu’s changed in the months they’ve been apart. It’s clear that she’s expecting Yuzu to be different somehow and she’s right. As Harumi and Matsuri have proven, Yuzu’s also still trying to prove her devotion to Mei by becoming a better partner, her version of someone who will be worthy to stand beside Mei.

Over all, I think Mei wants to improve their relationship by strengthening their emotional connection before diving into more carnal aspects of things.

In Yuzu’s case, she’s just happy to have Mei back so she’s not focusing on sex just yet. She seems to be enjoying the freedom of everyone knowing and is content with this development. I don’t think she’ll be asking for more any time soon, especially since she’s trying to get into the same university as Mei.

Though the college thing has me thinking once she gets accepted, the university isn’t the only place of Mei’s that Yuzu will be getting into.

All quite true, and exactly what I was getting at with the "arguably consistent" premise.

But when we remember that Mei was the wielder of the Magical Lesbian Kiss that instantly turned a (supposedly) boy-crazy gyaru into a devoted follower of Sappho in Chapter 1, her purity turn all these many pages later has . . . well, I don't want to overstate it, but this Mei seems to me like a rather smaller and less interesting character than she used to be.

Sex is easy for Mei. She’s used to having her body be used. Her grandfather was gonna marry her off and her first fiancé assaulted her.

Mei’s being sweet and affectionate. So far, Yuzu’s been the one who’s been moving mountains to be with Mei. Yuzu was the one exerting all the effort and Mei was going along with some of it because she didn’t know how to be in an actual relationship, aside from the sex stuff.

In the ending chapters, I wanted Mei to be the one to fight for Yuzu, to run back to Yuzu on her own accord. But ultimately it was Yuzu who chased after Mei, yet again. True Mei said yes but I never felt like Mei did enough to demonstrate her feelings went deeper. I never felt like she showed she loved Yuzu.

Now Mei is trying to defeat their biggest obstacle, herself.

She’s trying to overcome her instincts. That whole umbrella thing was just so cute. She seemed like she wanted to tell Yuzu to bring one but was reluctant, maybe because she doesn’t want to come off as preachy like everybody knows her to be. I mean, Harumi was telling her not to discourage Yuzu about the college thing.

She’s showing she really cares about Yuzu through actions and not just words. She wants Yuzu to feel she does love her as she’s carving a path toward a future for both her and Yuzu.

And I think it’s interesting to see this added depth to Mei’s character.

That’s just me though.

Do you guys think that Harumin could be genuinely afraid of Mei? I mean with the face she was making in chapter 3, and when she was hiding behind the lockers in chapter 2?

Matsuri is the best character in Citrus hands down, she actually makes the story go forward and is unfortunately surrounded by Useless Lesbians. Compare with how boring Mei has become over time lol

You wrote beautifully what I had expressed as "Mei is an alien and Yuzu is so whipped it hurts". They used to be sexy interacting together, now they are just...like a couple that will soon face bed death or something.

LoL. Matsuri is jealous. She does not want Harumin to be with Yuzu, let them alone for a sec.
She figures out lots of tricks.
