@Swag Wagon What? Who? The other PC is always the rival from start to end in Emerald. I am not sure if they added someone in the Ultra/Omega remakes, but in the OG games you don't have any other rivals. It's true though that the "rival" in Emerald is actually more like a friendly sparring partner lol

Joining this discussion a bit late, but without a hint of sarcasm I have to say that holding hands (and especially interlocking fingers) is one of the sexiest and hottest things in Yuri that I can imagine.
