I am not sure if they added someone in the Ultra/Omega remakes, but in the OG games you don't have any other rivals. It's true though that the "rival" in Emerald is actually more like a friendly sparring partner lol

You only battled Wally like 2 or 3 times in the original R/S/E so he wasn’t really a rival in the same way Brendan/May was. Though he does show up more in the remakes.
