Thanks, UAN--I did forget that one.
But this "lies by omission" business seems quite overstated to me. Lots of relationships involve long-term issues that the two people put out of their minds in the moment because of like, emotions. Was Mei supposed to go around reminding Yuzu, "Hey, nice kiss, but you do know this probably can't last forever, capisce?"?
Citrus always caused a lot of disputes huh (that is a shocking 4k right over there).
You know, when I saw the shop owner as the rich fiancé that Mei had to marry in the (probably) near future, I had the briefest hope that Mei would just explain everything to him and fake the marriage so that she can continue to be with Yuzu. But of course, the manga is more rational than that, so it knows better than to take the so-called easy way out. Still, I couldn't help but think how much pain it would have saved me if the author had just gone in that direction and time skip to when they are living together as adults sigh Think of all the sweet, cheesy, squeal-inducing, heart-warming moments that we could have had instead of all this drama sigh again
Though I laughed really hard when I saw Yuzu's book. Never noticed it the first time, but I swear the "LA" part that was crossed out could have meant "The strategy book!! To be happy and get laid by Mei" ROTFL

It means Yuzu wasn't sure how to spell "love".
[...] but Harumin seems to be entirely out of the loop.
Well, as it was stated, after the outburst, I think everybody that was there became kinda aware that they were having a romantic relationship. On Harumin's case, I read here something interesting about her not really wanting to get into any troubles, so there is a possibility she suspects/knows from the very beginning (Yuzu has been reading incest story(porn?) right in front of her, after all). While rereading the chapter, I thought Nene and Harumin didn't have that sad look after observing Yuzu, but on p26 they do seem concerned, except it's not in a big focus compared to Matsuri, Himeko and Shirapon - on that note, the expression of Matsuri after seeing Yuzu smiling when she seems to be gone the moment before, aaah, it hurts.
How Yuzu reacted when she first read that letter, why isn't she doing anything and just crying and pretending to be fine etc.
I think she had to react really strongly for all her friends to be that concerned about her after months; if we assume the chapter is supposed to show a typical day, she must be depressed like that all the time. I admit I'd have liked to read it as well.
As to why she doesn't act, I guess she is just too kind and respects Mei's decision. She also had some self-confidence issues in the previous chapters, so perhaps she doesn't feel like she is worth destroying Mei's plan or something. It is pure speculation until we see a flashback or hear people talk about that period, of course, but the way she lives, the way she cries, it seems like she gave up right away.
I was surprised everyone was so offended with this chapter [...].
If you place yourself in Yuzu's shoes and want them to be happy, it was a pretty upsetting chapters. I think it was just emotions talking (or genuine dislike of the story).

I hope the next chapter shows something along the lines of ''_ months ago...''.

Or that people just love to hate Citrus.

Yeah, I think for any non-hostile reader of the manga, it was the worst news possible delivered with not nearly enough set-up to soften the blow. And that news was delivered in such a way as to make Mei the lightning rod for all the resulting negative emotions AND to shut readers out of some potentially important conversations that might clue us in on what exactly happened and what might happen next.
As I said, there are any number of possible paths out of this dilemma, and I'm pretty confident the story will take one of them. As to whether it will be done well, I am more hopeful than confident.
She didn't play with her and certainly not for her own satisfaction only, Yuzu was a willing participant in this. She just had a brief relationship with somebody and it didn't last, it happens, it's sad but that doesn't make her an horrible person. In Yuzu's perspective, perhaps but even her can't hold it against Mei, probably.
Yuzu was not a willing participant in being the side chick that Mei gets to play with before starting a real relationship with someone else. Yuzu was hoping for an actual future with Mei. Knowing that the girl you're dating wants something more but you are only temporarily using her for self satisfaction does make Mei look like a horrible person. Mei knew Yuzu wanted more and also knew she couldn't give it to her.
And if you tell me "but if she knew it would end, why go along with it?", well, if you don't anything for the pretext that it's going to end, you won't do much, right? She could have been honest about the whole thing, but nobody's completely honest and especially not when strong feelings are involved. If it weren't a romance story, no one would expect the relationship to go on forever, it just ended a bit quickly.
There is a difference in not being honest and flat out lying about the terms of your relationship. Yuzu once asked Mei if she could hope for more with her and Mei compleyely forgot about the elephant in the room. The completely ignored it until her grandfather brought it back up.
I dont want any flashbacks at this moment. Not in main chapters, perhaps in specials?

So what is the context of her involuntary mariage? Spoilertext please, I don't care to read anymore of this shitshow.
The relationship not going anywhere within 6 volumes was enough red flags for looming tragedy.

Genuinely wondering why you're interested if you don't like it/don't care to read it. The context is pretty obvious anyway, you can figure it out! Here's a hint : she's a rich heiress.

I must admit that I'm familiar with the concepts of "works that are worth reading/watching/seeing" and "works that aren't worth reading, etc.," and I'm even familiar with the concept of "hate-watching, -reading, etc." something, but the existence of "works that aren't worth reading but are worth getting someone else to summarize for me" is a new one on me.
I kinda see why the hate is so strong, it was because Mei "decide" "chose" after waiting for years and years to see her make her own choice, finally make a decision to what? to give up Yuzu? (remember people can't always see the bigger picture here) let's not even talk about the marriage I was really shocked by her decision it's not the character development that I was expecting for but I kinda see it coming but not this bad though, and some people really felt betrayed with that, It made them question does she really loves Yuzu?(of course haha) but now you want to see proof of it. If the chapter purpose is to upset people for them to be able to feel what yuzu feel. I think this hate isn't out of nowhere. you know like they say people are mostly angry because they are in pain, hurting or sad, and it's only a natural reaction to get mad at bullshit the happens to you. Especially to some which I think was so emotionally invested with the story even if they won't admit it.
So? What's the problem with wanting spoilers? Her being a rich bitch or obedient girl doesn't really give away anything,
infact it'd make it easier for her to pursue the life-style that she wishes for. It's not that I don't want to care for this mang,
it's that I'm starting to doubt it being worth caring for.

You were asking people who read the story to make a summary for you while, at the same time, you were calling it shit and not worth reading. You're asking us to make the effort to digest the story for you while you're insulting it. That's the problem : why would we help you when you're literally saying that you don't like the story and it's not worth reading anyway? Why would you care in the first place?
Unless I misunderstood you, I'm really confused.
[...] it's that I'm starting to doubt it being worth caring for.
You'll have to read it if you want to know! Edit To give you an honest answer though, I'd suggest that you wait for the manga to finish. Depending on the number of volume left, it should be over in a year or two. Then, you can read the end and see if it's worth reading everything past vol6.
Yuzu was not a willing participant in being the side chick that Mei gets to play with before starting a real relationship with someone else.
She wasn't a sidekick, if anything, she was the instigator, the leader. Mei has always been reluctant and I can't blame her for giving in to the display of kindness and love Yuzu showed her.
See, if Mei was the one who started it, promising Yuzu all sorts of things to seduce her, knowing full well they couldn't keep it going in the long term, I would've agreed with everybody. But in this story, Mei is more passive than anything. She still promises lots of stuff to Yuzu but it's because she's too young and too in love with her to refuse her, to say to Yuzu "keep your hopes down, relationships aren't set in stone" (in the library in vol6); and that she didn't have the heart to break Yuzu's further : her step-sister just had an existential crisis and was really feeling down. The smile she does at the end of this chapter is like a complete opposite to her crying face in the last chapter.
Well, the only thing Mei can be accused of is to have been seduced by Yuzu, but who can blame her for that? Okay, okay, I'm pushing it. Still, it hurts, it wasn't a kind act at all, but I don't think she is a monster, just a confused selfish teenager who still wanted to indulge in the love of her step-sister, even if just a bit.

Oh yeahhhh I totally missed it say it in a really sarcastic tone but noooo friend, it just means that I am just so frustrated at these two having drama (which is of course justifiable considering the genre) that I need to make up something to relieve me of the scrutinizing pain :)
Shit, I kinda hope that Mei's grandfather dies so they dont have to go through with this whole engagement. Mei clearly doesnt want it for herself. I bet Matsuri's gonna play a big part in getting this whole thing to calm, just how she looked at Mei in the other chapter was terrifying!
Even if grandfather died, this will nothing change. Only Mei can stop all of this. And Udagawa ofc.
Something like Yuzu going crazy and barging in the wedding will happen. I'd be more sad if it wasn't so certain that there will be a happy ending. I highly doubt Mei will actually marry this guy
Only Mei can stop all of this. And Udagawa ofc.
Well, yes and no. Of course, only Mei can decide what she will ultimately do, and you’re right that the grandfather dying doesn’t fundamentally change the situation. But the fiancé saying, “I know you love Yuzu, so I won’t marry you so you two can be together,” just kicks the problem down the road until the next (undoubtedly worse) arranged-marriage candidate comes along.
What needs to change is the need for Mei to marry in order to keep the school in the Aihara family. That can happen any number of different ways (some plausible, some deus ex machina wish-fulfillments). But the first thing that has to happen is that key players need to find out what’s really going on.
For instance, both Gramps and Mom (we assume) think that Mei is rather stoically but willingly doing her duty as Mei herself has always expected to do; we have no idea if Shou even knows that she’s getting married at all. The Scooby gang of friends will almost certainly play some role in getting the word out that Mei is actually sentencing herself (and Yuzu) to a future of emotional anguish.
And if the school/inheritance problem can be solved, then in regard to the subsequent “but—lesbian step-sisters” issue, both of the parents represent a significant “do whatever you need to do to be happy” faction of potential support.
At first Mei must decide at all that she wants to be with Yuzu for sure.
It wouldn't do justice to Yuzu if Mei stepped down inheriting the school because Shou would take the duty/Gramps would die/ the manager would cancel the engagement. The two last solutions are short-lived and don't solve anything for the future. The first one just erases Mei's responsibility to make her own choices or to realize the choice she did condemn her and Yuzu to pain.
So yeah, she has to decide herself. It's the best solution to make up for the break-up.
The author should just have ended the series this chapter and turned it into in a timeless yuri masterpiece.

Exactly! Mei broke the relationship, let it fix it now.
Let me tell you the most obvious thing; you are being given THE UNBEARABLE PAIN only because it's finally time for THE SWEETEST RELEASE. Nobody slaughters a successful comic with anime in progress on top of that. I assume they didn't go through the full sexual intercourse yet? That's exactly what you'll get. Their "first time". So just relax.
So yeah, she has to decide herself. It's the best solution to make up for the break-up.

Of course that’s right, but you guys are talking character psychology, and I’m talking story construction.
